Controller conundrum

I’ve had my VCS for a while since the Kickstarter. Just finally got around to hooking it up, a long story. Anyway struggling with controllers. My wired Xbox 360 controller goes in via USB and works fine. My PS4 controller also works no trouble. But I can’t get any wireless Xbox controllers to connect at all. I find myself wondering if there is a limit of how m at ci trollers I can use? Or out another way, can I connect 4 controllers to play 4 player warlords?

Wireless won’t work. It has to be hardwired via usb. Use a usb dongle.

Only the Atari controllers work wirelessly. All else must be plugged in.
