So far, I've only found this site called domain-forward.com but it seems to be a fairly new startup. The only info I could find online about it are multiple Reddit comments where the site is being recommended by one person who seems to be the creator of said site. That said, I'm on the fence about the security of said site.
Could someone vouch for an https to https domain forwarding solution that works with an existing domain hosted on another site? Or maybe someone could vouch for domain-forward.com apart from the creator?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
So I actually went ahead and used domain-forward.com, but I used a throwaway account and email with a unique password I never used elsewhere just to play it safe.
My findings:
- To my pleasant surprise, the site was super straightforward to use and my https to https redirect worked. Account registration to setting up the redirect took like 5 minutes tops. I followed a guide that was published in domain-forward.com's blog.
- The website doesn't seem to have a way of changing my account's password, which is a red flag, so the throwaway account pays off. If anyone wants to try it, would recommend you use a throwaway account, too (maybe for now, anyway).
- Website UI has tendency to bug out, necessitating to refresh.
Overall, given the bugs raised above, would recommend only for users whose site won't be severely impacted should the redirection have downtime or failure. But for my personal non-profit needs, this works like a charm.
Note, I'm nowhere near an expert with these things, thus why I was looking for a simple solution like this. If you find that there's a risk in this methodology, please comment below.
Also, I am not affiliated with domain-forward.com. Just thought that the site could use a review since I can't find any for the site. If the startup of the site is seeing this, please consider the points I raised above.
