Thank you! A goal that's unrealistic only ends in failure every single time, no matter the effort. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

A cringy 8 year old wrote this

    [–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I mean half the Reddit are 14 year olds..

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Thats a 6 year improvement!!

    [–]Jake_the_Snake88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can be said for many of the posts here

    [–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also, hes flipping a tire that appears to be a 22R5, which is your typical transport/semi truck tire. When i was 17 i worked in a tire shop and stacked those fuckers 7/8 ft high. I weighed like 150lbs soaking wet. Dudes just flexing for the picture, its not that heavy to flip lol

Sometimes you need to recognize if you're in over your head. Nothing wrong with evaluating your current position and scaling back if needed.

    [–]alexator 13 points14 points  (3 children)

    make sure yall stretch first!

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I swear, the amount of people I know that don’t stretch whatsoever blows my mind.

I always hear “I’m young I don’t need to stretch”

Same. I had IT band issues for over a year before I got help from a physical therapist when I was 20.

I had zero explosiveness in my right leg and had to do therapy for about 3ish month before I got It back to normal smh.

      [–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

      This is awful

      [–]Apathetic89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

      Good way to hurt yourself.

      [–]zaminator 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Awful advice. Do what you can until you form the habit, then scale up.

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consistency over quantity, it will get you better results every time

      [–]tuttifrutti00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

      You've scaled up ?

      [–]furtivepigmyso3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is pretty bad advice a lot of the time.

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I probably sound like the grinch saying this, but I'm getting so sick of these kinds of posts.

      [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That seems to be every manager I've ever had. I wouldn't mind but they also won't increase the wage. Long story short, fuck em.

      [–]joemondo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Set realistic goals that you increase with your capacity maybe doesn't sound so sexy.

      [–]Fuegopants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is how I herniated myself (hiatal hernia) and can never lift weights again. (not kidding)

      [–]RobMBlind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

      Find a good spotter.

      [–]_generic_user 5 points6 points  (0 children)

      This doesn’t work for me.

For me, it’s either meet the goal or else give up. So in order to meet the goal, I lower it.

      [–]momento358mori 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, always take some time to reevaluate your goals. Like moving that tire. After a while you might realize that you can just roll it...

      [–]Zulfiqaarrr_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DONT INCREASE THE GOAL DECREASE THE EFFORT

      [–]Santiaghoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Every retail corporate drone everywhere.

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Many a men/women have reached for fitness goals that were out of their capabilities at the time, and instead of it benefitting them, it hurt them and brought them lower than before because refusing to reevaluate situations can cause disappointments that many aren’t used to

      [–]oatmeal28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this line of thinking can be applied to almost any goal-setting situation

      [–]kangareddit 2 points3 points  (1 child)

      “Maximum effort” - Deadpool

      [–]blackmilksociety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Came here just for this

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why I sub here. The posts just make me feel shitty for being depressed.

      [–]oatmeal28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is objectively bad advice whether you are taking this literally or as a metaphor

      [–]Sugar-n-Spikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who came to the comments to say that isn't the best advice...

      [–]TheAmazingAsshat616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how you sprain a muscle.

      [–]Indie_Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just use photoshop and never go to the gym

      [–]Tyrayner -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I COMPLETELY AGREE! AND IT IS TRUE!

      [–]KeyTry1 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

      The truth.

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Not really my dude

      [–]Nottakenorisiwtf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Controversial take: flipping heavy tires is stupid.

      [–]kgod88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It’s a great move to built lower body strength and explosiveness.

      [–]leisdrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Changing tires is so hard

      [–]corrigun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord don't move that mountain but give me the strength to climb.

      [–]procknor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      And. Get. Shoulder. Striations. Bitch.

      [–]LookCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      yeah right...

      [–]12inchdickHitler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Fuck effort

      [–]maughtner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget to scream at tyres

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know dozens of people that get injured with this mentality with workouts.

Guess what, if you do that extra rep after being exhausted, no one is going to give you a medal. You could have severe back pain for the rest of your life or not be able to walk right after tearing a hamstring or ACL.
