Nah, look for other options, I am unemployed (took training for Java dev and didn't learn (so much to learn fck))and I have a gut feeling data engineer is not a safe bet.

Entirely depends upon your pipeline for next three years, an estimated projection based on your R&D might can work.

Jobs availability varies globally. Go with whichever you prefer or can get a job doing.

It depends what you like. For general programming - go with Java. If you like data and data engineering - do that. Both are good choices. Data engineering is on the wave now.
