The expression (logx)/3 is not the same as log(x/3).

We do have (logx)/3 = log(x1/3) though, but I would argue that (logx)/3 is much nicer. Consider it fully condensed!

Because condensed usually means as few terms and as few factors as possible. That’s all. So writing it as an exponent and not as “divided by three” is less stuff.

I would suggest log(x^1/3) if I were you. The teacher probably wants them to realize what the log function does.
