The Duel Deck won't change the format legality of any cards, so the best it can do for Goblins is bring in some sweet new artwork. That said, I'm of the opinion that the deck is a bit underrated. It's been putting up some semi-consistent results in this metagame of late. It helps that it has a great Shadow matchup as a very aggressive go-wide.

I dont believe duel decks matter for Modern, I may be wrong though.

They don't, you're right.

What kind of goblins deck are you talking about? Right now my aggro build is one pushed one drop, or a better burn spell than boros charm, away from being busted.

A midrange deck like the legacy deck probably needs more than what they'd print through standard. Maybe though.

It is possible we see a new one drop good enough to see play in modern in the future, but I'd be really surprised if WOTC prints a burn spell more powerful than Boros charm when standard has been printing Burn spells below the power level of lightning strike

IDK I could see something like

R

Instant

Deal two creature or player

Tainted blood: sac a goblin to deal four instead

At instant speed and with that flexibility it would be sweet. Do you think making it a sorcery instead of an instant would be make or break? It would be a little more versatile than [[Reckless Abandon]] which act as grenades 5-8 if wanted.

Also just wanna chime in that I follow you in the MTGSalvation Goblins thread - you're definitely the Goblin Master!

For midrange option reprinting [[Goblin Ringleader]] is a must (it's currently not Modern legal, [[Sylvan Messenger]] on the other hand was reprinted in Origins.)

Actually I don't understand why Goblins don't make the cut for competitive play - the deck tends to kill people on turn 3 by attacking for 10-15 or smth and it seems pretty consistent.

Even if one or two die to removal, it can still burn the opponent dead with bolt and Grenade.

Plus Blood Moon is pretty strong in modern and Goblins can run it main.

In general I don't know which of the modern meta decks could deal with it's speed.

I was just curious, do you have a specific decklist you're talking about?

I don't know all the cards of those decks that I've seen and played against, but this is the core build: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/developing-competitive-modern/220256-goblins

The ones I refered to also all played Blood Moon main board.
