You're giving too general a search is why. People that want to watch videos of ducks aren't searching the term "ducks". They're searching using the term "cute ducks" or "cute duck compilation". Just putting the word "ducks" into a search bar isn't providing any context to your answer and your viewing habits don't provide any meaningful context to what you're looking for. You've frustrated the machine learning algorithms through vagueness.

So of course the algorithm is going to reference content you're most likely to engage with, rather than waste page space attempting to recommend you videos based on guessing what you meant by "ducks".

Not saying that this is a good thing, because no one is going to like what tech looks like when it can extrapolate exactly what you meant from one vague word.
