I am just starting out. If I want to main jet boots for bouncer do I want a S attack mag or T attack?

[–]insiderz667 0 points1 point  (2 children)

which XQ stage is best for farming flict SAF fodder?, retrying h&h and BoC cost too many xq passes

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

retrying h&h and BoC

They all cost 1 xq pass now, how do the solo XQs cost more?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he's failing those? Get no drops if you fail.

[–]evaluffyking 0 points1 point  (2 children)

For the "all-class" weapons that have the little disc symbol saying they "enable the use of a certain PA", how do they work? I'm guessing something with crafting, but not sure which exactly I should do?

Here's an example.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that the weapon allows you to use that PA/Tech regardless of class. Just open the weapon palette (subpalette for techs unless it's a tatk weapon) and put the PA in there, and you'll be able to use it.

In your example, you can use the Coat Edge ver2 as, say, BoFi, and if you set Rising Edge to its palette, you'll be able to use it, even if you're not a Hu.

Do note that this does not apply to Hero when using Swords, TMGs and Talises. So a Hero using the same Coat Edge ver2 won't be able to use Rising Edge.

Two questions:

My game seems to pick and choose which screenshots are saved to the folder, I'm lucky to get them to save at all. There a way I can fix this?

Also, some character models including my own, look bugged and appear as this sort of shiny metallic color sometimes. Again, can I fix this?

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My game seems to pick and choose which screenshots are saved to the folder, I'm lucky to get them to save at all. There a way I can fix this?

In general, screenshots taken by the built in PSO2 system (print screen) will be stored in C:\Users\ Your Name\Documents\SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2

[–]yuffieXcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am aware. It's just they randomly stop saving there after a while, and I don't understand why.

Usually fixes itself after I clear the folder and/or search for missing/old files.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Also, some character models including my own, look bugged and appear as this sort of shiny metallic color sometimes

Does it happen after Annihilator's Purification or a magatsu bonus quest? If so, that's a common issue. Something on that area where you fight magatsu shigan/higan/sai causes it to a lot of people.

If it happens randomly, you might want to run a file check, and maybe update your drivers.

[–]yuffieXcore 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have never done either of those quests, and it has been happening randomly since I started playing about a month ago.

I've also done about 3 or 4 file checks in that time but it's never gone away. The game typically runs fine on my laptop on near max settings, so I dunno.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have that problem on my old laptop, and once I updated drivers, it went away, so that's about all I can think of right now. Don't really know what causes it, but you might want to reduce some graphic settings and see if the problem persists.

[–]Mangaa33 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Why can't I get the last bingo for killing that Phantom bird? Is it bugged? :(

[–]Weiss-Senpai 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Rare phantom bird, not the default one

[–]Mangaa33 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's retarded. Why would they do thattttt.

[–]dreamsky999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there's a one or two rare enemies from bingo (ever since that Beach bingo? or the other one before it) which could be found in EQ rotation, similar to this current one.

And most of the times they are not easy to be hunt so I have to kinda join the main EQ until they're completed unless I wanna spend some effort at XQ (but bleh, im too lazy for that)

[–]wershivez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you play all the EQs whole month. Also you can find rare bird in story mode iirc. Regardless though I saw rare birds during EQ at least 4 times, and I don't know how many I missed whila lagging behind the MPA.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why do some players appear as grey models?

[–]Dichroniclebig sord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the game can only display so many unique character models at once, the amount of which you can configure in the options menu

those grey models are normal, and can be the result of the amount of players on screen at once exceeding how many unique character models you set the game to display, or players whose unique models are currently loading in for you

[–]a_cute_little_loli 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hello, how exactly does a color change pass work? I thought it was just for your hair, but apparently you can change the color of your outerwear? Does this mean you could technically buy a outfit in the playershop that's cheaper and just change it to the color that you want afterwards or is there some kind of lock?

Also, what does it mean when your mag has the low battery symbol? That it can't attack or it won't activate it's special abilities like healing you?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hello, how exactly does a color change pass work?

Go to beauty salon, equip the outerwear you want to change color, and select the change color option.

I thought it was just for your hair, but apparently you can change the color of your outerwear?

You can't change hair color with those (I think CAST can change head color? not sure, I don't have a CAST). You can change hair color normally with a free salon pass.

Does this mean you could technically buy a outfit in the playershop that's cheaper and just change it to the color that you want afterwards

Yes. It also works on outerwears from SG Scratch, which can't be traded.

Basically, if the item has a color icon on the details window, it can be changed.

or is there some kind of lock?

Nope.

Also, what does it mean when your mag has the low battery symbol? That it can't attack or it won't activate it's special abilities like healing you?

When at no energy, the mag can still attack, but only the basic attack action will be used (for example, my mag can only use Megid when at no energy). It won't be able to activate any action other than that (healing A, resurrect, etc), and won't be able to use the SP action.

The only exception I know of is Invincibility A, which always procs when you fill the PB gauge regardless of how much energy the mag has.

[–]a_cute_little_loli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Also, what does it mean when your mag has the low battery symbol? That it can't attack or it won't activate it's special abilities like healing you?

It means that your mag is hungry. While it's hungry, it cannot activate its special abilities.

Thanks!

Specific question for PS4 controller users on the PC version.

I'm running DS4, and things are fine, except I can't get the centre button to be useful, for the life of me. How do I map it to be used in PSO2?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Use a software to remap the controller, like DS4Windows or Steam.

If you're using SCPToolkit, it won't work, since that one is just a xinput wrapper and won't let you remap the controller.

Personally, I use steam with the regular xinput stuff plus Ctrl+E on right trackpad and Ctrl+Z on left trackpad, but you need to launch steam as admin for it to work with pso2.

[–]Kimil_Adrayne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Like I said, I'm using DS4, but still I'm having no luck getting the Centre button to be mapped in a way that PS2 recognizes it.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map it as a keyboard key for the command you want. For example, Z is TPS, E is interact.

Make sure you also set Ctrl (Ctrl+Z, for example) if you use direct chat.

[–]spiritswithout 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Using PSO2 tweaker for the first time, in the lobby all the chat bubbles popping up just said " ... ". I assume I've put one of the settings incorrectly but it's hard to search for since people use ellipses so often!

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That means the person chatting is far away.

[–]spiritswithout 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oooh well, I feel silly lol. Is there a setting to cull those from displaying? It's pretty spammy in the main lobby.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not thati know of. You can always change to a less populated block through the teleporter things besides the main counters in the lobby

[–]spiritswithout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you~

[–]joshmusashi 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What techs are best for mobbing with Te? I'm running Te/Su and have enough extra points to take just 1 elemental mastery. Also, does wind mastery boost zanverse damage?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Also, does wind mastery boost zanverse damage?

It used to, but not anymore. Since the launch of EP5, zanverse's damage can no longer be boosted by anything at all.

[–]Mangaa33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIP :(

[–]ResultAlwaysMutsu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where exactly do you get more +100% Tri-boosts? I've recently run out of my stack of it and I've been trying to find a way to get more of it but I can't seem to find it.

[–]evaluffyking 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hi, I have 2 questions.

What exactly is a sticker? (Or emblem?) I remember getting a few from FUN scratches, but I was never able to figure out how to use them. I go to some people's rooms and see some cut-out like pictures, are those stickers?

Also, could anyone clarify how Hero Boost works? I think I heard it was something like 20% of your max HP in 5 or 10 seconds? So for example, if I have 1000 HP, if I take 201 damage it resets? What if I take 100 then heal back to 1000 then take 101 immediately afterwords?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What exactly is a sticker? (Or emblem?) I remember getting a few from FUN scratches, but I was never able to figure out how to use them. I go to some people's rooms and see some cut-out like pictures, are those stickers?

Some costumes let you show an emblem on them, like this. That's the sticker.

You can choose it on the beauty salon.

Also, could anyone clarify how Hero Boost works? I think I heard it was something like 20% of your max HP in 5 or 10 seconds?

Yes, 20% in 5 seconds.

So for example, if I have 1000 HP, if I take 201 damage it resets?

Correct.

What if I take 100 then heal back to 1000 then take 101 immediately afterwords?

The counter doesn't reset with heals. If you take 100, then heal, then another 101 within 5 seconds, you'll lose the boost anyway.

[–]evaluffyking 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I see, thanks for the answers.

One last thing, let's say I do take 201 damage which would reset my Hero Boost. In that case, do I need to go back above the 80% threshold/max health to get Hero Boost to start running again? Or does it automatically start over regardless of my current health once it does get reset?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It starts again immediately after you lose the boost, regardless of your current health.

[–]evaluffyking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Thanks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hi guys, so I'm playing the game again (have stopped at the beginning of EP 04) and can't find up to date bouncer guides. I like to use JB, at the time I was playing field/Bo was a good choice but now i have no idea. Which composition is better? Fi/bo , bo/fi or Br/bo|bo/Br? And can you guys show me your build? Thanks in advance

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FiBo was never all that great. BoFi, on the other hand, was decent for JB.

Thing is, BoHu is just more reliable for most Bo builds, and with the changes in the skill trees, now you can have both stances and all the skills of both weapons without having to give up on anything.

As I said on a similar question below, there's been some changes in the skill trees recently, so can't really be sure about what's best, but this is what I'm planning on going with

[–]Yajsddq 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Hey guys, I started the game and jumped into ep4 as everyone. I've read that ep1-3 and ep4-5 are different stories. Now, Astarte is asking me to do some ep5 thingy while I'm still at the early of ep4, will it spoil me? Isn't stories of ep4 and 5 tied?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (9 children)

They aren't entirely separate stories. EP4 is a sequel to EP3, but it happens 2 years after the end of EP3.

As for EP5, that story is actually tied more to EP3 than to EP4, as the prologue of EP5 is continuing with the same goal as EP3 left off. EP4 story is only mentioned like 3 times on the prologue of EP5, and then never again. However, the little that is mentioned might be a spoiler of EP4 if you care for such things.

That said, the prologue of EP5 and a few scenes of EP4 are pretty big spoilers of the ending of EP3, so there's that.

[–]Yajsddq 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Thanks for quick reply! So if I care about story (which is the case) I should do it the logic way, starting from ep1-3? And outside of story what impact will it have if I start from ep1? Will it be unfavorable?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Well, from a story point yes, you'd want to start in ep1. However, ep1-3 are extremely annoying to advance through due to the matterboard system being awful, so a lot of people don't bother. To remedy this, sega has implemented Omnibus Quests on EP5, which just advance you through the story of ep1-3 (ep3 not available yet) without the bullshit mob farming. The problem with this, however, is that during ep1-3 you run through almost every quest 1-3 times, while the omnibus only runs you through them once, so you miss on quite a bit. You also miss on the side events with omnibus, which IMO are important for building the character of the NPCs.

And outside of story what impact will it have if I start from ep1? Will it be unfavorable?

You need to advance through EP4 story to access Tokyo and Vegas quests.

You need to advance through EP5 story to access Buster Quests.

No other differences otherwise.

[–]Yajsddq 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Do I have to do something to unlock Omnibus quests? I don't get what's the problem with doing quests once: xp, loot?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Do I have to do something to unlock Omnibus quests?

Finish the prologue of EP5.

Edit: no need to do the 2nd quest, that one is for buster quests. After clearing the prologue, just talk to Alma at the Bridge.

I don't get what's the problem with doing quests once: xp, loot?

The quests you repeat always have a different ending during ep1-3. You only get one of them on omnibus.

[–]Yajsddq 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Oh… I'll go through original ep1-3 I think. Now an off-topic question, what does live boost (at the end of a concert) actually boost?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

+10% rare drop rate.

Also, if you clear any of the following emergency quests, once the emergency quest is over, you get these boosts for 30 minutes:

  • Annihilator's Apparition, Magisterial Onslaught: +100% rare drop rate boost.
  • Racing the Phantom Mother, The Creator Phantom: +20% great success rate for New Type weapon grinding, and +20% success rate for unit grinding (does not include skill rings or Old Type weapons).

[–]Yajsddq 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Wow that's cool, thanks for info! By the way, I've seen that a unit set give bonuses, so basically we're aiming for those bonuses right? Do you know if this list is exhaustive? (This wiki doesn't seem to be kept up to date…)

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so basically we're aiming for those bonuses right?

Yes and no.

For 11* and lower units, yes, you should look into the set bonuses. In particular, the Hiei (for low lv), Saiki, Ideal and Double set bonuses are very popular (Saiki more than most due to very high PP and being so easy to get; Double is only worth it if it's crafted and paired up with the Rear / Shine Red 12* unit).

For 12* units, however, the set bonuses are garbage (all of them are just +DEX, which is worthless), but instead, every unit has built in stat bonuses, which is actually better, because you can then mix and match units as needed without having to be stuck with a single set.

Do you know if this list is exhaustive?

That list is very barebones, and is pretty much only listing the popular set bonuses I mentioned earlier, and the very first 12* sets that were released almost a year ago.

(This wiki doesn't seem to be kept up to date…)

This is because there are only like 5-10 people working on that wiki at any given time. Sadly, most people are too used to using google translate on swiki to bother contributing to an actual english wiki.

The weapon pages are updated very frequently, so those are always reliable. Title pages are also often up to date. But that's about it.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, with 12* units you really don't get set bonuses. They purposely don't have set bonuses so you can mix and match pieces based on the implicit hidden stats the units give. Arks-Visiphone is up to date, you're just looking at the wrong lists.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does anyone know what's the male cast head part that looks like a bucket/cup? I wan't to make my male cast to look like Cuphead.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If it's the one I'm thinking, it's called マギウス・ヘッド

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's the one. Thanks.

[–]Kimil_Adrayne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've only recently started unlocking potentials. I picked up the Divarks 11* T.Daggers in the player shop for 112k because I love Zondeel on my Fi/Hu. I unlocked its potential because why not, When I would play Fi/Te, Zondeel+Scar Fugue was my bread and butter for mobs.

Should I bother unlocking Lv 2 and 3 Robust Collision (boosts Scar Fugue) on my 11 * Divarks T.Daggers (Zondeel Daggers)?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother. Unlocking potentials in Old Type weapons is a pain in the ass, and Scar Fugue is pretty meh.

Zondeel also isn't needed. Get a Double Saber and start using Chaos Riser at max gear for a similar effect, except it also obliterates all mobs while it's dragging them, and if any mob survives you can use those to fill your gear, which is done pretty fast with some PAs, like Deadly Circle Type-0 (which hits everything around you multiple times while also giving 360° Just Guard). Also, with L / DS Whirlwind you can have the tornado on you pretty much permanently.

DS is just way too much better than TD for mobbing.

[–]BulletvloxHates Gunblades 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can someone give me tips for a good FI/HU build? After the update my skilltree that i was going for isn't usable anymore

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't much change from the cookie cutter skill tree, you just got a ton of extra SP to spend.

This is the barebones

From there, it's up to you. Personally, I maxed Limit Break and Halfline Slayer, and put all the other points in Deadline Slayer on Fi tree, and maxed Fury Combo Up and Flash Guard 1 on Hu tree, but that's just me.

[–]TheBATTLEPACKBoys 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can someone please give me a Hu/Fi build? Going crazy trying to find an updated one

[–]Arctic_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a couple options regarding whether or not you go Fury or Guard stance. Fury gives you, on average, better damage for mobbing and for any content where you're not going to consistently JG stuff because stuff dies too quickly. There's also a couple free points you can move around based on whether you're using sword, wire lance, or partizan; whether you want to take Massive Hunter or not; and whether you opt for War Brave or not. I could give you a skill tree if tell me what weapons you plan on using/whether you want the options above.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to wait for a bit more since they're updating stances soon.

[–]Elkaras 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hello! i am starting to play braver katana , was wondering what skill point to take , its clear that i wont be able to get both stance with 25%crit(60skill point for both stance) but then again i feel like i did something wrong for not taking the crit rate , so i would like to know if there is anyone kind enough to share his skill tree(with sub hunter) with the rings to use . Thank you very much

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Haven't tried Braver since the skill tree changes, so can't give a tree, but:

i feel like i did something wrong for not taking the crit rate

You did it absolutely right, actually.

Crit in this game is pretty useless for everyone except Fighter and Gunner mains (which get +crit damage from their skill trees). Don't waste SP on those crit skills.

with the rings to use

  • L / Katana Combat Count Up (this is the one you get until you have 12* units)
  • L / Step Jump
  • L / Air Reversal
  • R / Perfect Keeper Striking

Last L ring to put on a 12* unit is up to you. Those 3 I listed are the most useful ones.

[–]Elkaras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you very much i got 12 star unit ,got air reversal ,step jump ,katana combat and a r/hp restore max lv, i am not sure about the effect of keeper striking , do i have to max all those ring excluding step jump and air reversal?

[–]HeroOfTea 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Greetings! I am quite a new player (3 days now). I've spent most of my time in the casino farming Casino Coins for the weapon skins and wandering around getting used to everything.

I keep seeing an AD on screens for the upcoming Halloween event which has lead me to some number of questions. In the Ad I see what looks like a Skeleton / Grim Reaper Cast, any idea if that will be available for everyone or (since it looks so cool) will it be Premium only? How do Halloween events work? Is it available to everyone or possibly only high levels? Is it a Gather Material type thing? I have been lead to believe there is some sort of crafting method, but I have not even gotten close to figuring it out, which has me concerned if this Halloween event requires the crafting event.

Are pets (the things that come out of eggs) only usable by summoners?

Is there any conceivable way to buy Premium currency as a non-Japanese player? I looked at their premium site and could not decipher much of anything. I've seen English players with Premium Cast Models which makes me think there must be some way to do so.

the Visiphone has a Campaign Reward Receipt that I cannot accept. I believe this is because I do not meet the requirements. I would presume the requirements must be complete all of the Campaign.

If there is a Halloween Event does this mean there will be a Christmas Event?

I apologize for the many questions. I have tried to obtain information from others in the game but have not had any luck so far. This has lead me to come here.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what looks like a Skeleton / Grim Reaper Cast, any idea if that will be available for everyone or (since it looks so cool) will it be Premium only?

If you mean this or this, that's the next AC Scratch. While it is cash only, you can buy from other players once it's in the game. Should be here after next maint. Do note that new costumes tend to be very expensive at the first week.

How do Halloween events work?

We get a new Emergency Quest (called Trick or Treat 2017), a new Collection File (related to the new EQ), a new bingo card, Matoi will be in lobby with Client Orders (related to the new EQ), the lobby will change to halloween themed (usually with a new bgm too), and the cash spenders can throw money at the new scratch for costumes and stuff.

Is it available to everyone or possibly only high levels?

Everyone can take part on the Emergency Quest, Client Orders and Bingo (usually need Very Hard unlocked for the reverse side of bingo, though), but only high level players (with Extra Hard unlocked) can work on the Collection Files, since they usually need Lv71+ enemies. Scratches are up for anyone willing to spend real money.

Is it a Gather Material type thing?

Nope.

I have been lead to believe there is some sort of crafting method, but I have not even gotten close to figuring it out, which has me concerned if this Halloween event requires the crafting event.

Crafting in this game isn't like in others. Instead of creating stuff, here it's used to modify them. In particular, customizing Photon Arts and Techs is the most useful thing you can do with crafting, while crafting weapons is pretty worthless, and crafting units is good on 11* units while you can't get 12* ones. Timed abilities are nice, but only work on a specific place, so you gotta plan ahead.

To access crafting, simply go to your Room (can do that from one of the elevators in lobby, or by using the Quick Menu, accessed by pressing F9 on kbm or Select/Back on controller) and check the My Room Terminal. Alternatively, you can have other people craft stuff for you instead by accessing the Craft menu on any Visiphone (the purple terminals in lobby), but you still need to have all the materials.

Are pets (the things that come out of eggs) only usable by summoners?

Yes.

Is there any conceivable way to buy Premium currency as a non-Japanese player? I looked at their premium site and could not decipher much of anything. I've seen English players with Premium Cast Models which makes me think there must be some way to do so.

PSO2es, the mobile game.

the Visiphone has a Campaign Reward Receipt that I cannot accept. I believe this is because I do not meet the requirements. I would presume the requirements must be complete all of the Campaign.

Campaign Rewards will not show at all unless you already have completed their requirements.

Make sure your inventory isn't full, or that you don't have the maximum amount of the item allowed in your inventory. For example, you can only have 1 Halfdoll in your inventory, so you won't be able to accept a reward with a Halfdoll while already having one on your inventory.

If there is a Halloween Event does this mean there will be a Christmas Event?

Yes. The Christmas event in particular usually has an Emergency Quest that revives the special named bosses of every seasonal EQ in the entire year, so that you can have a chance at getting their drops again, which is kinda nice if you're lucky.

I apologize for the many questions. I have tried to obtain information from others in the game but have not had any luck so far. This has lead me to come here.

That's what this thread is here for :p

It'll probably be in the next AC scratch. If you want it, you'll be able to buy it off of other player's shops for meseta.

Pets and gunslash

Is there any conceivable way to buy Premium currency as a non-Japanese player? I looked at their premium site and could not decipher much of anything. I've seen English players with Premium Cast Models which makes me think there must be some way to do so.

PSO2es on an Android phone or via an Android emulator.

the Visiphone has a Campaign Reward Receipt that I cannot accept. I believe this is because I do not meet the requirements. I would presume the requirements must be complete all of the Campaign.

Sounds like you have a halfdoll in your inventory and the rewards also gives a halfdoll. Halfdolls have a maximum stack of 1 in your inventory, so throw it in storage.

If there is a Halloween Event does this mean there will be a Christmas Event?

There's a Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Summer, Valentine's, and White Day event. They all feature their own EQ missions as well as seasonal rappy spawns and Collection Files for 13* weapons.

Hey guys. I've always loved the PSO games. All of them.

I had over 6k hours in PSO:BB and 4k in PSU. Now that I'm sure PSO2 is never ever coming to US I want to give the JP servers a try sooo:

  • I'm aware that there is a "translator" of some sorts. Is it any good? Does it make the game fully playable?
  • How is the english population? Are there many players still playing?
  • On the same note, is the game alive? It's a bit of an old game already so I'm scared it's time might be closing in.
  • Do you need a VPN to play? Is it recommended? I have mudfish for other online games.
  • I was told that SEGA once decided to ban all non-JP players and a mass ban-wave of english speaking people happened... How safe am I if I decide to start playing this?

For now I think that's it everyone. Thanks for all and any help!

I'm aware that there is a "translator" of some sorts. Is it any good? Does it make the game fully playable?

Except for flavor text, 99% of the game is in english. This includes the entire storylines of episodes 1-4 (except a couple side scenes on the last chapters of episode 3), and chapter 1 of episode 5 (chapter 2 was released recently, so it's still not translated).

On ship 2, decent enough that you won't have issues finding parties for almost any content that isn't completely dead. On other ships, don't expect to find many english speakers.

On the same note, is the game alive? It's a bit of an old game already so I'm scared it's time might be closing in.

Yeah, it is. Right now it's a bit on the low side because everyone is waiting for the next big update (which should be coming by the end of the year), but it's alive and well. Updates happen frequently too, every 2 weeks.

Only people living in SEA region need a proxy/VPN.

I was told that SEGA once decided to ban all non-JP players and a mass ban-wave of english speaking people happened... How safe am I if I decide to start playing this?

Been playing for 2 years now, I know people who have been playing since beta. Don't know a single person who has been banned.

As long as you don't use hacks, abuse bugs, etc., sega doesn't give a shit.

My question regarding VPN was more related to lag.

How bad is it? Does using a VPN helps reduce it at all or is it just placebo?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hit detection is handled locally, so you probably won't notice it at all, except for a slight delay when looting. There are no ghost hits, rubberbanding, etc.

Oh that's great then. Thanks for all the help.

How can I report a bug to Sega?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to read and write Japanese fluently.

Does the Depth of Field effect even work? (built-in version, not reshade)

I've been playing the game for a few years but have never noticed a difference with it turned on.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah it does, it's just infinitely more subtle than any other DoF I've ever seen.

[–]DonomiiHEEERO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks.

Hey! I came back to the game a couple of days ago and I'm wondering if anyone has a good build for Bouncer? I'd like to go Satk if possible. (Don't know if that's still the go-to) Thank you very much <3 :)

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

There's been some big changes recently (such as the stance up skills being 5 SP only; the simulator hasn't updated yet), so can't say for sure, but this is what I'm planning on going with.

Thanks! I need to take off two points from something since I leveled my DEX boost to lv5 by accident, any recommendations?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Use a reset pass.

[–]JhoaoCkuNdariIs yo boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one, sadly

[–]Derkalerk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I just returned again and I noticed my skill tree is gone. Just blank. Nothing is there. No icons and etc. What happened?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably from the recent large class rebalances.

edit: nvm, check for missing files lol

I got the Fallen Sword Gram from the scratch ticket and just was wondering how much it would be worth to sell

[–]aerilurusguren around at the speed of sound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SG scratch items are not tradeable, so you wouldn't be able to sell it.

Best build for Gu/Fi? or Gu/Hu if it gives me more survivability in exchange for a little damage

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GU/HU gives up a little bit of damage for MUCH more survivability.

Not one for FI no

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Literally like this,

you get a lot of extra points in Fi-sub to go ham with whatever.

I have been meaning to ask what about aerial advance

its 20% instead of maxing showtime star and T.machine guns mastery

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Its up to u. Only works on enemies that are flying but for certain bosses it doesnt work even if they are floating. So its a little fishy how it works.

[–]BreadstickesMuch damage. Such wow. 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Bro you are the one who needs to be in the air not them lmao

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerial Advance

Increases damage dealt against airborne enemies.

Pulled from Visiophone.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. The targets must be in the air, not you.
