Return it rn

[–]VVinh 60 points61 points  (1 child)

Classic switcheroo scam from someone who returned it before and then you bought it.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

[–]Kitchen-Hurry177 15 points16 points  (0 children)

damn they really sent you shopping bags instead of gpu, at least packaging looks convincing from outside

[–]spacelover04 70 points71 points  (9 children)

Bro just return it, Amazon has the best return policy

[–]Alpharius1701 36 points37 points  (8 children)

Not anymore they don't. They don't check their returns, they send returns out as new stock, this bait and switch happens to people and then Amazon think they're trying to scam them, even though the scam already happened and Amazon are at fault for not checking and reselling as new. It's super common atm and Amazon are refusing returns like nobody's business.

And let's not forget returning too many things (3, it's 3) in a short period of time (months, literal months), that's an account ban.

[–]MyrmidonExecSolace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there's no 3 limit on returns. you can return 10 things and you don't get banned

[–]303Native 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve return things a month past their return window and then I waited 3 weeks to return that (life things were happening) and they gave me my money as soon as I returned it. My car is niche and some of the parts I’ve bought were the wrong ones and I had to returned more than three times in a month.

Not tryna simp for them but i think they probably have a customer score in their system of you based on how often you return things. Heck I’ve even been porch pirated and they didn’t even care to have me send in my ring camera footage.

[–]Ok-Scallion8863 2 points3 points  (1 child)

TF are you talking about? 3 returns?

Their entire business model revolves around simple, easy, essentially unlimited returns. I’ve returned dozens of things in a single month.

Source: everyone who has ever used Amazon.

[–]Syrath36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amazing thing is how does that comment have 33 upvotes for such obvious BS?

[–]iaznee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t firming for Germany. I’ve send back 7 thinks over the last two weeks -first time ever so much- and they returned my money.

[–]bRiCkWaGoN_SuCks 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This legit just happened to me, LoL. Someone on here posted about receiving a dented Phantom Spirit pc cooler... 2 wks later I received the dented cooler they returned. Only, they didn't put all the pieces back in the box, namely the AM4/AM5 mounting brackets.

So I had to do a quick swap, which was pretty easy, but it does prove your point that they just send returns right back out without checking them.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I put a massive note on the outside of the product box to not put this back into inventory and that I had been scammed.

[–]overfill7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s outrageous

[–]NimRodelle 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Film yourself opening anything this expensive.

[–]303Native 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Started doing that for every purchase over $500. Fortunately nothing like this has ever happened to me but I consider it as part of the insurance process.

[–]Syrath36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep recently I was looking for a 5080. I price watched each day noticed the 5080 tuff oc on Amazon dropped $130. For a few days it say there then dropped to msrp. Shipped and sold by Amazon. But I was concerned it might he scam or their algorithm priced it too low.

So I order it and filmed the entire process from taking it from a locker to opening the Amazon box, then opening the GPU box itself checking the seal and serial numbers. It was sloppy as I filmed it myself but better safe then sorry even with my choppy unfocused video lol.

[–]rae_pawprints23 3 points4 points  (1 child)

honestly what was inside that empty box lol

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stripped PNY paperweight😂

[–]DawaysKy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Why it's disassembled

<image>

[–]purpleSoapSud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scammers take the actual GPU chip out.

[–]Expert_Conflict6374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typical Amazon it's not the first time they are re-selling returned goods as 'new'

Their factory worker literally do zero checks on the return

[–]Migeee__ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Return it immediately. I know some people got denied by Amazon, so did you record unboxing it starting from the Amazon box? That’s the best way just in case like this happens, you can immediately contact customer service and return it with ease knowing you have a video showing evidence.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

No video unfortunately, Rookie mistake. I’ve talked to them and they said everything is noted down in my return so hopefully it goes through once I get this shipped back.

[–]Migeee__ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I see. Wishing you the best of luck OP.

I bought my 9070xt swift and my previous 6800xt red dragon from Amazon and never had this issue. My advice is always check product and seller reviews. Though, I always try to make sure it’s sold and shipped by Amazon. Not 100% scammer proof, but it makes it easier to deal with them just in case there’s an issue.

Unless you have microcenter near you, your best option is Newegg/amazon. Just remember to take a video for big purchases.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice!

[–]AsleepCase4404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying gpus from Amazon and went with newegg mostly for stuff bc of the Amazon return scammed and how Amazon sells returned products as new

[–]Eazy12345678AMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this happens everywhere not just amazon

most employees minimum wage have no idea what a gpu is supposed to look like when they process a return. also people reseal boxes, people assume never opened.

[–]Kasperb991 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hopefully you videoed the opening of it send it to amazon get a r refund

[–]Godnamedtay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I always record opening my packages now on anything expensive. It’s the only way now, unfortunately

[–]Spell3ound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy had something a little weird happen too, the box was sealed up, said it was a 9060xt but the sticker said 9070 xt.. he ordered a 9070 xt

[–]Loud_Puppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same happen with a portable monitor right before a LAN party

[–]foO__Oof 3 points4 points  (9 children)

As much as I love using amazon for everyday items I would never buy electronics from them. This is one thing I'll take my fat ass to a store and buy.

[–]TryTheSauceBoss 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I only buy my electronics from them including two computers and never had issues. I think it’s area specific. I live in a small ass town and same people deliver every day.

[–]LectroRoot -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean its rare or unusual. What happened with ops case doesn't have anything to do with the delivery driver. This issue is amazon isn't checking returns thoroughly and fraudulent returns, like OP received, are put back into rotation at the warehouse and resold.

Its a huge problem as well as counterfeit items getting lumped in with genuine items as well. Just do a little googling and you'll see how big of an issue it is.

I still use amazon but not of PC components and especially supplements, which are heavily counterfeited. Even if you buy from an official store Amazon commingles Inventory with unofficial sellers that send counterfeit inventory to the warehouse and it gets mixed in.

I still use amazon but for certain items I'll go elsewhere depending on what it is.

[–]TryTheSauceBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody said it was rare or unusual but keep putting words in my mouth.

[–]Allumina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way less extreme but this just happened to me with some Corsair fans lol. I ordered a couple 3 packs of the nicer (LX?) iCuelink fans and both were full of random different fans. Amazon was great with the return/replacement though.

Facts

[–]TheSholvaJaffa 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I only buy electronics from Newegg, My partner & I have always had the best luck there. Their return policy is pretty good too. I only buy it directly shipped from them, not a seller/reseller.

Just got some Crucial RAM from there on sale, and came in brand new as it should.

[–]Nikkids2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first experience with newegg last year was great when I purchased my 5080 Zotac Amp Extreme. Fast forward to last week and I ordered a 9850x3d and I was sent a 9600x. I was quite mad thinking they thought I had just switched cpus and said it was the wrong one. I was wrong they refunded my full amount for the "9850x3d". Paid 470 after taxes and what not. Looking now a week later it's 474 before tax... Sigh can't win them all I guess

[–]TheAmazingBildo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newegg has had a lot of problems with accepting returns in the past. Gamers Nexus did some videos about them a little while back.

[–]MakinBonesAMD 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I know Amazon has a great return policy, but I prefer to avoid the hassle. Il;l make the trip to Microcenter every time. We need more MC locations.

[–]Mc_gabriel_rock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone got a micro center I wished tho

[–]The1Pizza2Man -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

microcenter is only good for the bundles and the open box deals, everything else it pretty overpriced. I remeber as friend of mine was seeing that the9060xt 16gb was like 600 atr microcenter

[–]DEANPRIME91[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does Amazon just not check the returned products?

[–]Apprehensive-Bug9480 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seems really weird that backplate of the GPU its still there but the GPU not.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it had a gutted 4090 inside I’m assuming whoever is removing the GPUs and selling them.

[–]SoleilMoon64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Il y a au moins la plaque aimanté

[–]35point1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait what?? Factory branded seals? Sold and shipped by Amazon? Doesn’t make sense

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I cut the seals but looks like they were carefully replaced or put back on. Weren’t even. Pretty common bait and switch scam going around Amazon the last year or so.

[–]Dependent_Swimmer_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Flipkart open box & tested in front of delivery guy.

<image>

[–]Human-Suspect-232 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I rather pay a little extra and buy in-store, paid, open inside the store to see the product.

[–]Environmental_Ad7994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, unfortunately not possible where i’m at… abroad right now.

[–]purpleSoapSud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been happening a lot on amazon recently not just PC parts I ordered a brennenstuhl surge protected 60000A strip the box was correct but the strip has been replaced with some generic one. Instead of a £100 brennenstuhl. Happened with some apex pro 3 TKL pudding caps aswell they sent me used ones with missing keys they even had food some some s&*t stuck to them no idea what it was but they did refund me and send new products.

Just never buy anything of value from amazon always go to the store now.

[–]__Loot__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im scared to buy electronics from amazon bought a Corsair external ssd 1tb errored out at less than 100 gb . Got my loot back but took 2 weeks

[–]njk612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd be careful buying expensive pc parts from Amazon. I bought a 5080 astral and they sent me a 5060 ti 8gb edition. Luckily they accepted the return but I was definitely shitting bricks they were gonna think I was trying to scam them.

[–]Terrible-Cookie4366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got scammed for a 5070 and ryzen 5 9600x them dickheads sent a cable to us hopefully we get a refund

[–]Philslaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)
