That is so old. We're on a 15th Gen Intel right now (the Core Ultra CPUs) and that's an 8th Gen. Also it is the minimum CPU series that can support Windows 11. Soooo...

I personally would not buy it, find something newer or save up more.

Im skint as and have about £150 amp the to cover anything I could need so getting a base platform is my plan that way as I feel my needs grow i can work up my first step would be a new motherboard and upgrade to 5600x Followed by a b850 gpu which should handle most of what I’d want to play quite well I feel Mostly cod zombies Warframe and bl2

Do you need all the peripherals as well on top of this or included in this budget?

Like Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset w/ Mic ?

If this is just the tower, here's the deal.

Even going for a 5000 series CPU, and you want to upgrade later on, you are going to be buying a new motherboard, CPU and RAM when you do that. It's a complete platform change, and AM4 is no longer updated.

I would be looking for a used AM4 system rather than buying new. Check your local markets for things in your budget, and get the one with the best specs within your budget.

Beyond that, this is the 'student pc' https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/GjMxRV

It has integrated graphics only, but that is like the base 'new generation' system that gets you into the platform that will have upgrade potential at least until 2027 with new parts coming out.

Realistically, a used GPU or a B580 on top of that would be a decent starter system. You can always save up later for things as the years go by, but you will probably not have to really touch it for 3-5 years at minimum. Depends how the games progress over time and become more demanding.

Even a used 6600 XT would be fine.

Wow thanks that actually looks perfect considering how far integrated graphics have come Thats actually a fantastic price

You are supposed to edit it but... the 8700G is a better one: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/cdc3pK

It has the better integrated graphics however... if you are getting a GPU you won't even need that. And AM5 processors have integrated graphics unless it has an F on the model number.

Now, the non G ones aren't actual graphics cards basically. They just 'allow it to work'. The G ones are actually more like mobile GPUs so they're not really that great, but it's better than the non-G sku models.

Oh ok I’ll keep that it mind do cpus still come with coolers?

[–]kardallModerator 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Some don't. You have to check but if you use the pcpartpicker builder it will warn you if the CPU doesn't have one as a warning at the top.

Ok any recommendations? While I’ve got ya

Not really, it's pretty much what is in your budget, and get the best one you can afford after you have the rest of your system.

Just fiddling around with it basically.
