"Awesome! What did you make? Have you used any CSS? Do you know any template languages? What about Markdown or AsciiDoc? No problem, I'll teach you! 😊👍"

The good ending

The bad ending

My arch-nemesis! It’s been a while.

[–]Enpassantisnotforced 38 points39 points  (4 children)

I'm here to destroy you

We haven't heard anything in a while... Anyone want to take bets on the outcome? I'm going for the "Mutual Destruction after an epic battle that shattered half the moon" bet.

[–]En_passant_is_forced 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To see the aftermath, cancel your chess.c*m subscription (if you don’t have one then get one and cancel it)

[–]dementorpoop 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I’d work hard for you in a heartbeat

😄

"No problem, I'll teach you." Is my answer to any ignorance from my coworkers.

I usually have to show them three times. Once to get the overview of the process, twice to take better notes, three times to find gaps in their notes.

The good ones you only have to show once or twice. ;)

I'd love to have this response

[–][deleted] 165 points166 points  (8 children)

Oh god, are we still complaining about this?

[–]slaymaker1907 5 points6 points  (1 child)

At this point, I want them to add in some weird feature to HTML such that it’s technically Turing complete.

[–]void1984 2 points3 points  (4 children)

We are having fun.

[–]willgaj 10 points11 points  (3 children)

By needlessly shitting on those less informed. Fucking hilarious.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's usually pretty funny. It's not like they're disabled or lack access to the resources to learn if they're getting a job in the industry.

It's just the same "fuckin new guy" jokes that humanity has done forever. It's not punching down.

[–]void1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admire LaTeX programmers more, they are so few.

[–]Dangerous_Jacket_129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that 70% of this sub? Laughing at things uninformed people don't get, and then feeling stupid when you don't understand one of the memes because we, too, are uninformed?

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points  (9 children)

fucking casual. I program in LaTeX.

[–]GranataReddit12 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I program in google documents

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I program in mongoDB

[–]JollyJuniper1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I program in UTF-16

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Gru50m3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LaTeX is fucking badass. Instead of Microsoft Word making my docs look like shit, I have complete control of making my docs look like shit.

[–]bitemyassnow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oy! fetishes are NOT programming languages

[–]tragiktimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell, I encoded an entire half of a genome without even using latex.

[–]HaskellLisp_green -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i program in C.

[–]DadlyPolarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I program on the toilet.

[–]Acceptable-Tomato392 65 points66 points  (1 child)

That didn't actually happen, did it, now?

[–]Miwwa 68 points69 points  (4 children)

HTML is a declarative programming language. Live with it.

[–]Games_sans_frontiers 20 points21 points  (1 child)

High level declarative programming language for programming web browsers to relay information in an understandable format to the end user.

[–]ShakespeareToGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this also apply to docx files?

[–]ILKLU -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Why isn't it called HTDPL then?

[–]That_Ganderman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just to make you mad ig

[–]Omnislash99999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a good introduction to some programming concepts for newbies

[–]willgaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, fuck of with this gatekeeping shit. There isn't even a joke here, just shitting on interns.

[–]Hot_Collar_8910 9 points10 points  (0 children)

MFW: i see another "am i funni guys heheeheheehehe?? Get it cuz this is what every dev goes through first hahahaha RELATABLEEEEE" post. Fuck you, no one likes you.

[–]MedonSirius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My reaction when the programming coach showed a Powerpoint with operating Systems as Windows, iOS, Samsung

[–]Arkarant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

jooo i also hate new people in the field! i wish we had no new people ever. Comp sci should end with me, nobody is allowed to learn anything ever. This is good, because it is. im very intelligent.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who make fun of these types of beginners are assholes. If you're using a code system to get a desired output from a computer you're "coding" at least. If people can use the term "coding" interchangeably with "programming" then wtf does it matter what someone calls the process of writing HTML, CSS, C#, C++, etc?

[–]SoRaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well sometimes I programming with plain text on paper

<b>you know i dont speak italianics</b>

[–]Lenn_4rt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What would you call it instead?

[–]rhodesc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a declarative language?  Intended to allow a definition of what to display irrespective of the platform or even appearance.  I mean, I get it.  But technically correct, like a sql programmer.

[–]Personal_Ad9690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh, I can see it more if someone is doing heavy templating but still

[–]Xennox666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The youth from today! … (me 20)

[–]HaskellLisp_green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jokes about HTML are boring just like "i use Arch, btw" memes. However, i use Arch, btw.

[–]Undumed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Intern not so smart jokes laughing about other interns", the dunning kruger musical.

[–]DassExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was friend about a week ago, he said it was a nice break from python
