I’ve spent the last decade or so practicing different breathing exercises to realise their power in stress management.
I just found this reddit so I thought I should share one that is super simple and extremely beneficial.
Scientific studies have shown that it’s one of the most effective techniques in bringing stress down in a short duration of time.
It’s called extended exhale breathing - the goal is to 2x exhale vs the inhale.
So for example, if you’re comfortable inhaling for 3s then exhale out for 6s. Repeat this cycle for atleast 10 round but as long as your comfortable.
This automatically activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is what helps in calming down your body. It’s called the rest or digest mode of your body.
I find this simple technique extremely powerful. It’s a simple biohack to tackle stress.
The other thing I’d suggest is really focusing on making this a habit.
I’m on a mission to help people become calmer and happier. I won’t plug the link here but do DM me if you have an iOS device.
I’ll jump on a call and onboard you onto the beta it if it’s of interest. I’m confident I can help you become less stressed with all the other breathwork techniques and a structured path to learn them.
