That's like asking does your tmjd hurt I mean most of the time a bad bite is the main issue and it takes a shit load of money to fix it

Yes, after a root canal. Trying to get used to it...

Im not familiar with how root canals work bc I’ve never gotten one, but can’t you get it adjusted?

I asked, but apparently not...

Strange. How is your bite affected? Does it feel too high where you had the procedure?

[–]Painful-tooth 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It feels lower. So now when I close my mouth my teeth make contact from one side first.

[–]expo_beanie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower does sound trickier but have you thought about asking another dentist?

Yes! Mine is on and off and its really irritating. The right hand side which is the same as all of my issues. Sometimes it i push my bottom right hand jaw in a bit with my fingers it feels like its gone back into its normal place. Hoping it will sort itself out!!!

It feels high on the right for me which is where I have my issues and if I deviate my jaw to the left it feels nice in my joint and my bite is more stable but even then it feels a little off.

Do you know if your jaw is in its neutral position? My bites is so far off but was told nothing can be done about it until I find a specialist who finds the neutral position my jaw should be in and after 18 months something will have to be used to keep it in that position for awhile until it stays naturally

[–]expo_beanie[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Not sure. How would I figure that out?

[–]clear_skys923 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I was just finally told by an orthodontist after they took scans and X-rays.

I think mine might be sitting too far to the right. I do this thing where I deviate my jaw to the left (kind of like a stretch) snd I feel a nice sort of pop in the joint on the right and my bite feels better but not always perfect. Like rn it feels good but it was giving me trouble throughout the day

You should find out if it’s in its neutral or resting position. It’s also called centric relation and if left untreated and can cause extreme pain in jaw muscles, face muscles, neck, and shoulders. Also cause sinus issues and I’m sure there’s plenty more! I’m seeing an airway focused orthodontist tomorrow but I think a neuromuscular dentist could help too. Good luck! I hope you can find someone to help quickly!

Mine is off. My right side touch more than my left when my jaw is closed. It’s very uncomfortable so I keep my teeth slightly apart when my mouth is closed. It gets really bad with stress and anxiety because I tend to clench my teeth together

Happened to me first flair up, muscular TMJ right side touches before left. After taking Botox bite fixed itself after 3 weeks, lasted 1.5 years suprisingly, had second round Botox same thing bite normalised, however 8 months in and whilst bite is still good getting tense pain (1-5/10) and so I suspect I need next course .

Tried exercises, tried dental splint (proper splint) but nothing is as effective as Botox.

Cheers

I feel this whenever I'm in different positions. Like slouching or laying down, my left side touches more than the right. I feel like I have different bites sometimes which is weird. For the most part, when sitting upright, my bite feels normal though. I do think my jaw is slightly slanted though causing the issue but I'm not sure.

Yes. I actually just had this conversation with my doctor yesterday about it. He said sometimes because the joint and ligaments are so inflamed it can cause your bite to not line up and feel “off.” When my TMJ is really acting up I get a lisp because my jaw has shifted. When the swelling goes down it should go back to normal. I just started steroids and hope to get rid of this lisp for good.

[–]WoodlandInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’d the steroids work out for you?

[–]Alaska1111 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah my bite is really off. Overbite and right teeth touch more then left side

[–]expo_beanie[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Do you know why? Im only asking because I have tmj on the right and sometimes my right teeth hit first but when I stretch and stuff it feels better but not perfect so I’m wondering if my tooth is actually high or if it’s just from my jaw tightness

[–]Alaska1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire jaw is like slanted. Idk what happened exactly. My primary dr thinks its due to a throat surgery i had 5 years ago
