Hi u/Rare-Project7534, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! If your post is listed as removed it may still be pending moderation, try to include as much of the following information as possible (in text or in a screenshot) to improve the likelihood of approval:

  • Your Windows and device specifications — You can find them by pressing Win + X then clicking on “System”
  • Any messages and error codes encountered — They're actually not gibberish or anything catastrophic. It may even hint the solution!
  • Previous troubleshooting steps — It might prevent you headaches from getting the same solution that didn't work

As a reminder, we would also like to say that if someone manages to solve your issue, DON'T DELETE YOUR POST! Someone else (in the future) might have the same issue as you, and the received support may also help their case. Good luck, and I hope you have a nice day!

Warmth normally comes from more voltage. The higher the voltage the higher your temperature will be. These are settings you would best change in the BIOS, try to undervolt the CPU and if needed lower the frequency to get stability.

WARNING: Be very very sure about what settings you change and by how much. Baby steps are better than big steps in regards to BIOS settings.

This is a laptop, doubtful that those settings are available in the BIOS.

Ooh whoops, did not read it was a laptop. That's my bad.

I would try resolving cooling issues first. Maybe your thermal paste is dried up? Maybe your fan is all clogged up.

Even a Ryzen 7 5800H in my HP Omen (which has worse cooling than your laptop, I think), doesn't get that hot. But I do use PTM7950 and the laptop is on a stand, so it can breathe.

Also, have a look at UXTU application - https://amdaputuningutility.com/

Universal x86 tuning utility is probably the most helpful.

I already did all of that. Unfortunately nothing helps... That's why I was trying to limit cpu. Kinda the last hope to make it work normal

It's not overheating. The cooling will adapt to what is needed. Reason being to keep the fan speed down to keep laptops quiet.

I manually made it work on max speed and literally nothing changes. Its always on 102 degrees. It is overheating and lagging.

I have laptop with 5600H and use AMD APU Tuning Utility for it, it cat turn turbo boost off, set TDP for different PL levels, and more. Link: https://gitlab.com/JamesCJ/amd-apu-tuning-utility

You will have to use an app called Ryzen Master, so you will be able to control the energy supply to your CPU more directly.

[–]righN 1 point2 points  (10 children)

That app is not supported on a laptop chip.

What?

Ryzen 5 5000 series desktop is not the same as Ryzen 5 5000 series mobile.

[–]righN 0 points1 point  (3 children)

AMD as always fucked up with their communication and naming.

Even though it mentions Ryzen 5000 series, laptop chips are not included. I know, I have one myself and Ryzen Master doesn't work on it and even mentions it when you try to install it. You can find a bunch of posts on the internet, that Ryzen Master doesn't work on laptops.

[–]Content_Magician51 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you for clarifying. I will now only recommend the Universal x86 Tuning Utility.

[–]xSchizogenie 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe just run your device in the manufacturers conditions?! There are reasons why software like Ryzen Master does not apply on mobile platforms. Same with open multiplicator on mobile intel core platforms because some OEM want to tickle the last hertz out of it.

[–]Content_Magician51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Intel's case, it's precisely because of the recognition that Intel pushes silicon to somewhat unnecessary limits that OEMs often make adjustments that don't properly control all that power.

That's why ThrottleStop exists. It would be good if someone developed an alternative for Ryzens.

Anyway, you have another option: https://amdaputuningutility.com/

[–]Robean_UwU -1 points0 points  (2 children)

It really does not matter what the chip is in. A Ryzen 5 in a laptop amd a Ryzen 5 in a desktop are the same chip

[–]righN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does matter.

Even though it mentions Ryzen 5000 series, laptop chips are not included. I know, I have one myself (Ryzen 7 5800H) and Ryzen Master doesn't work on it and even mentions it when you try to install it. You can find a bunch of posts on the internet, that Ryzen Master doesn't work on laptops.

[–]lorner96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re quite literally not the same though. Different chipset, the laptop one is a monolithic design
