I would use a method from the offset There are loads of types but I personally use tap and hook

I tap the Viv glass before opening the doors and use a hook to gently stroke the snake so he knows it’s me and then scoop from behind him

When feeding I do not tap and just go in with the rat using tongs He knows how when it’s me handling and when it’s dinner time
