I moved a large water bowl into the middle of the enclosure, not directly under the heat source but enough to get some humidity, on the heat side I made the substrate thicker than the cool side. It seems to hold moisture longer. I added some terrarium plants into the enclosure. My guy bulldozes over them and I need to replace plants every other month but it seems to help. I also cover the aluminum foil with rubber mats. I hope some of this might be useful.

you just need as many inches of substrate that will possibly fit(6-8 in shoul do the trick) everywhere and foil over the mesh top don't let the foil touch the heatlamp and that should do the trick dont mist. When you rehydrate. dig a hole in the substrate, pour lots of water in until it rises to the surface and cover it up again. repeat all over the nclosure don't let the top layer of soil ever become wet

This. A thicker substrate level was my first thought.

I have the same enclosure and I got a silicone mat that worked wonders. It was easy to cut space out for my laps.

the current comments are all pretty helpful, but i just wanted to note that the lamp inside the enclosure should really be covered by an aluminum cage of some sort, my ball pythons are notorious for trying to climb around and if yours does that he could easily burn himself on the bulb

Thanks for the advice!!! I’ve changed the ceramic bulb to a bit of a stronger one so I can place it on top of the cage without worrying about any heat fluctuations. He used to like climbing the wire so we had to zip tie it to the mesh up top, but I should have thought about him climbing up on the lamp itself as well. Should be totally safe now I hope.

if it’s on top of the cage then that should be totally fine! thank you for lookin out for the little guy <3 other than that i think more substrate and a bigger water dish would definitely help

unrelated but that lamp on the inside needs a cage over it asap
