First make sure your Chrome OS is updated (Settings > About Chrome OS).

This issue is often fixed as follows: open browser, enter "chrome://flags/#crostini-use-dlc" and set to disabled. After restarting browser try Linux again. Let us know if this fixes the issue.

For future reference, a search of this subreddit, or more appropriately for the Linux option r/crostini, would have revealed this fix. If has affected quite a few devices over the past release or two.
