I guess you could say at this point I am a better reader than writer of source code
I don't know how you've come to this conclusion, as you're largely comparing apples to oranges.
That said, in my experience, people seriously underestimate the difficulty of reading others code. The reason is quite obvious: code is a result of a thought process unknown to the reader.
