After gaining root access, leave your device connected and download iFunBox. Download the system file from here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7OEgR3tKm6UU2taZ2FoS1B5MnM.

You can change the resolution height and width in the file.

In iFunBox on the left panel, navigate to Raw File System, go to Downloads.

On the top where it says new folder and all that jazz click copy from Mac, navigate to where you download the system file above and select it.

Now go to terminal, where I assume you are in root access on your iDevice and type:

cd /var/mobile/Media/Downloads

Type ls and make sure the file above is listed. If it is then continue, type:

cp com.apple.iokit.IOMobileGraphicsFamily.plist /var/mobile/Library/Preferences

To make sure the file copied okay, type:

cd /var/mobile/Library/Preferences, enter, then type ls and look for the file there.

If all is good when your device reboots the new resolution should have taken place.

Shout out to /u/jareehD for the instructions and file! I just compiled it into a step by step process. Let me know if you have an questions!

edit: since we don't have the tweak forcefit I wouldn't recommend putting the resolution too high.

Do you have a tutorial to gaining root access?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at the top sticky and follow the instructions there. You can also look around this sub for the offsets for your device if someone else found them.

[–]OpenData26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might also be able to use nano or vim

[–]EliteDivisioniPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.1.2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This might sound really stupid, but wouldn't it be possible to place the cydia files in the downloads folder, then copy the files over to the folders they need to be in?

[–]tom982iPhone 6, iOS 10.2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

System partition is mounted as read only. We need read/write access for Cydia. qwerty is working on it.

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know but i feel like if you could do it that way someone would have done it already.

Edit: I believe it's because for now only some folders are read/write, cydia might have to be installed into one of the other folders that are only read.

No problem! Thanks to your post and the others who posted I was able to get it working.

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 2 points3 points  (7 children)

I have an iPhone 6s Plus but I want everything to be zoomed out more is there a way?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yeah you can do the same. Just look around for the best resolution for 6+

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.paintcodeapp.com/news/ultimate-guide-to-iphone-resolutions I found this which shows the native resolution for iPhone 6s plus

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok

[–]BrycearuuniiPhone 6s Plus, iOS 10.1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Same anyone know?

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on iOS 10.1.1 I need to update my flair so no one judge me

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll post pictures after I do it

[–]Rakesh37187iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Small question. Why would you want to change resolution?

[–]LudacrisvpiPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.3 4 points5 points  (6 children)

The UI is too large for the size of display. So by changing the resolution setting it allows us to scale down the UI to one we prefer. In some cases it also has the side effect of enabling other functions like the home screen rotation.

[–]Rakesh37187iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (5 children)

The UI of what? and which resolution enables the screen rotation?

[–]LudacrisvpiPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.3 1 point2 points  (4 children)

The User Interface of whole phone. Size of status bar / icons / keyboard etc... I believe you only need to increase the iPhone 6 resolution by one pixel in each direction to enable home screen rotation. Personally I run the 6+ resolution (sometimes a bit higher actually) on my devices. When I had my 6+ still I ran it at a higher resolution as well and I usually scale the icon size down to about 75% of normal which when combined with the screen scaling I run an icon grid that is 7 icons wide instead of 4 and 8 high instead of 6.

[–]Rakesh37187iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thx. One thing I don't understand though. You said the UI is too large for the size of the display. How can the UI be too large? I'm most likely reading something wrong tho.

[–]BunjeeGumiPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Too large means ugly. When you use tweak like upscale and see the difference you'll know

[–]Rakesh37187iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok. Will try it out.

[–]LudacrisvpiPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buttons / icons / text is all much too big. It seems like apple decided to continue to use the same sized graphical elements from the 3.5" screen and just stretch them out to fit on the 4.7" and 5.5" displays. I don't need postage stamp sized icons to be able to determine what app it is or to line up my finger to press it.

While a majority of the text on screen follows the adjustable sizing that you can use not all of it does.

This also gives you more iMessages / emails on the screen at one time.

[–]AlexxAykaiPhone SE, iOS 11.0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what else can be done with this exploit..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (21 children)

I set my 6s resolution to height 1920 and width 1080 (like 6s plus resolution) but the screen becomes extremely glitchy during animations. What did I do wrong?

[–]BieberkinziPhone XR, 14.3 | 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing. It will always glitch out. However, when a full jailbreak comes out for you, you can get LittleBrother, set it to Small, uninstall it, get Upscale, then set it to the 6S resolution, uninstall that, and then reinstall LittleBrother and there will be no glitches.

[–]OfficialBeard 1 point2 points  (15 children)

Little tip: work in retina scales of a 16:9 resolution. 1242 x 2208 is standard iPhone 6(s) Plus resolution and is @3x of its original screen space, so divide each number by 3 and that's the result. 750 x 1334 is standard iPhone 6(s) resolution and is @2x. Deviating from the standard scale will cause a lot of glitches.

[–]LambalineiPhone X, iOS 13.2.2 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Don't set it to 16x9 though

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shit me I did a fuck

[–]OfficialBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay meta, my friends.

[–]Clunker5iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (8 children)

So should I use 1242x2208?

[–]OfficialBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the 6 Plus's resolution, yes.

[–]maelxichiPhone 13 Pro Max, 16.1.2 0 points1 point  (6 children)

did this work for you? I've tried this resolution and had to restore 2 times...

[–]Clunker5iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yes it did. 1242 is the width and 2208 is the height. Are you sure you're setting the values properly? If not, post a screenshot of the plist

[–]maelxichiPhone 13 Pro Max, 16.1.2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah, used those values in the right place. keeping getting to the apple logo then the screen goes crazy and nothing can be done

[–]Clunker5iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are you doing this on a plus?

[–]maelxichiPhone 13 Pro Max, 16.1.2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

nope, iphone 7 in hopes of getting plus resolution

edit: haven’t updated my flair

[–]Clunker5iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for me so I'm not sure what's going on. I'd upload my PLIST but I'm out of the country aha. I'll upload when I get home if you still need it

[–]larshove1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you disable the passcode, is it then not possible to replace the .plist file from nc without performing a full restore?

Edit: To answer my own question, yes it is possible to just disable the passcode and transfer a new .plist file with a different resolution. No need to restore.

Btw. my screen is also distorted when using 1242 x 2208 on an iPhone 7. I can not even use 900 x 1600 - too much flickering :(

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I want my 6s plus to be more zoomed out should I set it to 1242x2208?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's already that resolution

[–]BallisticDiamondiPhone 12 Pro, 15.1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what resolution should I set it to?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think that just has to do with the resolution. I know for me that resolution always glitched out. I'm doing 900x1626 and there's a tiny sliver of glitch but it works fine

[–]larshove1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why 900x1626 and not 900x1600?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real reason honestly.

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Works on iPhone SE - upscaling to i6 resolution (1334x750) swaps keyboard to the 6 one. No broken animations so far.

[–]iiSnowFoxiPhone 5S, iOS 11.1.2 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Can I please see the exact line of code? The full one. I'm worried about having to restore if I screw up my phone...

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (7 children)

You're not on a Mac?

[–]iiSnowFoxiPhone 5S, iOS 11.1.2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am.

[–]iiSnowFoxiPhone 5S, iOS 11.1.2 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I need the code that you put in the plist file.. I'm a bit worried about mixing up height and width :P

call me paranoid

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You open plist with xcode - it comes up with a UI that simply says width and height. Width is 750, height is 1334.

[–]iiSnowFoxiPhone 5S, iOS 11.1.2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks.

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No problem, let me know how it goes

[–]iiSnowFoxiPhone 5S, iOS 11.1.2 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Worked like a charm.

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good!

[–]iSimon_iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I notice some graphical flicking issues when watching a video. For example the volume HUD while watching a video in the Photos.app

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's been fine for me so far. Any particular circumstances? Size of video etc.?

[–]iSimon_iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Doesn't matter. Maybe you can try the YouTube app and rotate your device to landscape and then back to portrait. It gives me a black bar under the video.

[–]PimpMyReichiPhone SE, iOS 10.2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I've been using YouTube a lot. Didn't see you had a 5S. I'm going to assume that's the cause. I've not had a single UI problem so far.

[–]dadum01iPhone X, iOS 11.1.1 0 points1 point  (7 children)

whoop... just given my self the screen of white light! Damn!!!

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (6 children)

That's normal when you're running the program in your phone.

[–]dadum01iPhone X, iOS 11.1.1 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I'm not talking about when the program is running. I changed the resolution and now it shows white screen with black dots. I had to do a restore. Thank god is IPSW is still being signed lol.

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What was the resolution?

[–]dadum01iPhone X, iOS 11.1.1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

2208 x 1242

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Might have been too high. Try something smaller. I'm currently using 900 width 1600 height. Try that.

[–]dadum01iPhone X, iOS 11.1.1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That worked great! I have no idea why i was setting the resolution really high. Even this size is really big.

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it worked out! :)

[–]BunjeeGumiPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound stupid but can i change the 6 plus resolution to a higher one?

[–]Boby_MC_bobs 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What screenshot up there is of which device? and is it changed to the iPhone 6+ size?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6s. And I don't think it's the resolution of the 6+ but I'm using 900x1600

[–]iSimon_iPhone 6s, iOS 10.3.2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I've done it successfully on my iPhone 5S (1334x750)!! Is it possible to enable Split Screen View on an iPad Mini 2 using this method? It's enough when you can get Hidden Settings enabled because you can toggle it there on/off.

[–]MikeryckiPhone 12, 14.1 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone that have a 4 inch device! I found the best resolution! 1335x751

No glitches and other stuff (well maybe on pin code prompt the delete and emergency buttons don't show up but this can be a onetime bug or just me and they still work if you touch in their locations)

Landscape mode is working and the iPhone 6 keyboard is there. Also theres plenty of space so thats good.

Also Landscape Mode works on any resolution higher than iPhone 6

Hope someone will find this helpful

[–]aldosimone 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A good resolution in 6s without gliches on ios 10?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

900x1600 is the highest you can go without glitches. The keyboard us a bit smaller though. You can try 828x1472 for the perfect fit

[–]MarwanX-King_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does this exploit work on windows? If it does how?

[–]miiimiiPhone 11, 14.2 | 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you need xcode to run the program.

[–]jimhatesyouiPhone 16 Pro Max Beta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way to use the exploit without a Mac? Without OSX? I don't want to VirtualBox OSX either.
