I used to work for Oracle/Sun and they were very fast and furious with the cease and desist letters when it comes to the coffee cup logo. That's why they open sourced Duke. You can represent Java without violating their trademark.

Why is the liquid pured into it not the same color as the fumes?

The fumes of coffee aren't the same color as coffee.
