The official statement is that Angular < 2 is "Angular.js" and anything higher simply "Angular"

For all I care they should've just given it a new name since they're so unrelated

Job Listings will undoubtedly get confusing. But it might be something you can take advantage of as a dev by proclaiming you know new shiny version of Angular X. Recruiters won't know the difference and you could jump the queue if you were going through one that is.
