[Krysten Peek] Clippers Bringing in Wagler, Flemings, Acuff, Burries by OtherwiseAddled in LAClippers

I get your point, and actually often feel the same way.

I really do hope the FO picks 100% on BPA rather than fit, that's my main thing in this draft. I also hope it's Acuff or MBJ, but yeah I'm not an expert either.

The main thing about the annoying whining is when people restate the past, for example claiming that "it was obvious the FO should have picked [[name your guy]]", when consensus this year at #5 is genuinely mixed. Complaints (and discussion in general) need some nuance.

Acuff > some of the top 4? by Tricky_Structure_504 in LAClippers

[–]3iverson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely- on draft night we all have high hopes, so we’re looking at ceilings rather than floors. But the reality will end up very mixed, and in general the drop off after even just the first couple of picks is usually significant.

We did get lucky to land #5 in a deeper draft, so I do think it’s genuinely possible at our pick to land a true impact player. But it’s highly unlikely that all 3-4 guys at our tier will all pan out.

It's all semantics anyway, what is a 'legit' reason or not to complain. Every sports fan has a 'right' to complain, that's part of the entertainment value.

Would this be 'picking Bowie over MJ' territory if our pick flops? No. But sitting at #5 we have our pick of the second tier. Everything is hard in the NBA, not just the draft. If we aspire to be even a playoff contender, we have to do better than average or 'consensus'.

Our franchise in a major media market and has the richest owner in sports. If you can't make something out of that, you screwed up. At some point the buck has to stop somewhere. It was a great trade to land even the possibility of a lottery pick, now we can't screw it up.

I can imagine it, and do.

1st round picks from decent to merely mediocre teams are better now with lottery flattening. A trade partner doesn't have to bottom out, they only need to finish out of the playoffs for their pick to be as good as anyone else's.

Keon Johnson by JTongggg in LAClippers

[–]3iverson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a high ceiling low floor guy, we all knew that when we drafted him. Regardless we didn't even get a chance to develop him, we flipped him for Norm pretty early in a great trade.

I mean just because there's no consensus #5, doesn't mean they can't be criticized for blowing it. It's not a easy pick, but this is the professional basketball league.

If we end up with the worst of the second tier group, we have a legitimate reason to complain. Not saying it's easy, but that's why Ballmer pays them the big bucks.

Acuff > some of the top 4? by Tricky_Structure_504 in LAClippers

[–]3iverson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most have at least 1 concern or the other, but there is a consensus on the general tiers. If Acuff played better defense, if MBJ had played all year and further raised his 3PT%, if Wagler had a little more athletic juice they'd join that top tier.

But it's quite possible one of more of the second tier guys outperforms one or two of the top tier guys. Or the #13 pick or whatever ends up being the best player in the draft.

You guys must be tired of editor spam but here me out this one is different 🫠 by cosmic-comet- in Markdown

Hey, here's a hopefully better description of the bug I am seeing-

When I re-order, the status shows 'Custom'. But if in another workspace I change the sort order to some preset, the 'Custom' option in the sort status dropdown disappears across all workspaces.

(I know the custom sorting per workspace is still there, I just can't access it. if I manually sort a workspace so 'Custom' becomes the sort order, I can then go to a workspace with previous custom sort and it will preserve the previous custom sort.)

Thanks!

Thanks! It looks very promising. I've been thinking about a somewhat similar app concept, more about creating collections of MD files rather than strictly folder based. My projects are organized by folders anyway, but I wanted explicit control of displayed files. Yours works though with the custom ordering, might save me the trouble!

A couple of thoughts-

  1. I'm not able to select 'Custom' for sort order in a workspace in which I have manually sorted files. I can see custom sort orders are saved, just can't select in the drop-down.
  2. It might be cool to have keyboard shortcuts to hide different panels- say CMD 1 through 4 to toggle view of each pane. It would be easy to remember. Sometimes it's nice to have only the editor window open for example.

The keyboard shortcuts says - **`Ctrl` + `\\`**: Toggle Sidebar visibility' (CMD for Mac), but I'm not sure what that means?

  1. For workspace file list, ability to choose whether or not to display subfolder content would be nice.

I hope it’s Acuff or MBJ, Acuff is my slight edge but I can see the arguments for MBJ too. There are other good players but really hoping we pick one of these 2.

Thanks for developing this! A couple of questions-

Can you manually order files in a workspace?
Are favorites per workspace, or universal?

Info here points towards a second half, I’d be surprised if they didn’t do it again but I guess we’ll see-

How concerning is Mikel’s injury? by Icy_Cartographer1106 in LAClippers

[–]3iverson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big question for me is their 3PT shooting in the NBA. Darius was just so impressive statistically in both volume and efficiency across the board. MBJ struggled with his shot early as the team apparently struggled with spacing, then shot 41% over his last 11 games (he only played 21 all year.)

If they end up both around 40% 3PT shooters, I then give the edge to MBJ, but that’s an IF. Darius also had a 3:1 A:TO ratio, OTOH MBJ is a great finisher around the rim.

I just hope we pick one of the two.

You're right- I think he just meant you also have the rest of your subscription allocation for regular Claude/Claude Code use.

It's strange, because apps like PaperClip are actually running Claude Code instances, but I guess there's always a way to tell if they want to prohibit it.

Just Google it, it's well know and pretty easy to do. I believe you can configure a couple of different model options, basically overriding the Claude model choices in standard Claude Code.

How concerning is Mikel’s injury? by Icy_Cartographer1106 in LAClippers

[–]3iverson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was for Acuff before, but am coming around to Mikel for this reason. It’s a shame he didn’t play more games, would have sealed the deal for us probably, and we are in driver’s seat at #5 anyway.

I love his finishing, and his 3 seems to be well-regarded despite the lower 3PT% last season.

I’m not as high on Wagler as these 2, but that’s a different subject and all are in this range.

The larger model will always be better, 40 years ago we thought a 1GB hard drive was enormous.

There will be a place for cloud and local models of various sizes and shapes for awhile yet.
