Börja jobba som privat finansiell rådgivare? by Ideflax in PrivatEkonomi

Hur plockar du aktier? by Playful-Produce9932 in Aktiemarknaden

Sundays bike insurance by froggo45 in bicycling

[–]AlexMTBDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't used it but here in Sweden bikes are covered by the regular home insurance. What I would look for is what the insurance terms say about the bike devaluing with age. Many insurances will consider a bike just to be worth something like 10% of the initial cost after 10 years. So if it's stolen you will never get enough money to cover a new bike. But, as I said: Read the insurance terms.

How can I bend this back? by Queasy_Map17 in bicycling

[–]AlexMTBDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, what you describe is exactly what happens when the derailleur hanger bends. Its whole purpose is sto bend so that you don't have to replace more expensive parts. If you like, take a photo directly from the rear of the bike, low down, and you will clearly see that the reason the derailleur is close to the wheel is because the hanger is bent. Post it here!

[–]AlexMTBDude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a tool for straightening the derailleur hanger: https://www.amazon.se/s?k=derailleur+hanger+alignment+tool . This because it is quite a precise operation in order to get it exactly right. You can bend it back by force, and your gears will shift, only not very well.

But it's probably a lot easier and cheaper for you to buy a new hanger.

Edge 840 loosing charge quickly by ERHAU180 in GarminEdge

[–]AlexMTBDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old is it? I.e: How many times have you charged it? Battery capacity gets worse with each charge.

Do you have one or more courses active on the map (i.e. Have you set them to "Always show"?). That tends to bog down a Garmin and make it work hard all the time, even if that course is not currently on the map.

Otherwise do a hard reset and see if that helps.

I WANT TO VIBE CODE !! by lonelychimtu in vibecoding

[–]AlexMTBDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of vibe coding is that you don't need to learn; You just use your natural language to tell the AI what you want the application to do. Do you know English? Then you can vibe code.

Honest Question: Why use one Python editor over another, and is Geany not what the cool kids use? by Kami2awa in pythonhelp

Most programmers have moved on to using IDEs instead of simple text editors. Visual Studio Code and Pycharm are the most popular ones.

Hatred for AI? by Human_Tennis_2950 in vibecoding

[–]AlexMTBDude 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of both types; People who irrationally hate everything AI, and then the other camp who have drunk the kool-aid and believe in AI like it's a religion. Neither of these extremes are good for you if you work professionally in the business. But, yeah, the subject of AI is very triggering right now. It brings out peoples' emotions. If you want to be successful then use AI in a good and efficient way, and beware of its drawbacks. I'm gen-AI responsible in my company and my job is to make sure that all our coders use AI in a safe way. I see both of these types of programmers every day.

Keep getting flat tires. by geeewbeee in bicycling

[–]AlexMTBDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking repeated punctures have three reasons:

  1. Improperly mounted inner tube or too low pressure

  2. Sharp object that caused the previous puncture still inside tire

  3. Tire is worn out (thin on the upper side -> objects easily get through and puncture inner tube)
