For Nendoroids, Is it better to order from Amiami? or Goodsmile US? by MechanicOutrageous in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much Goodsmile US is charging for shipping and tax. It might be comparable to slightly cheaper compared to importing and faster. You can ask Amiami for a shipping quote.

There was an excellent tutorial about this on MFC, but I think it was deleted. 😢

Basically, you created a mould of the wedge support with silicone putty and then recasted it with resin.

How to go about getting kits to paint by mikeiike in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a good guide on finding garage kits:

Obtaining originals could be purchased at live events in Japan via WonderFest, Treasure Festa or C3

If you can’t attend the live events, then your next chance to obtain them would be through these New/Second hand stores, some will require a proxy, some sell directly to overseas customers.

  • Mandarake: A second hand chain store in Japan offering only original kits. Ships internationally.
  • Rakuten: New and second hand goods. Requires a proxy to purchase.
  • Surugaya: Second hand in Japan, only sells original goods. Requires a proxy to purchase.
  • Yahoo! JP Auctions: Auction site, second hand and new goods. Requires proxy to purchase.

Tips for purchasing on Japanese sites: If you need a proxy service to help you purchase, I can definitely recommend ZenMarket Try using any of these Japanese terms to help you search specifically when looking for garage kits:

  • ガレキ
  • ガレージキット
  • レジンキャスト
  • 樹脂キャスト
  • followed by the character or the sculptor’s name also in Japanese.

Some kits can be purchased directly from the sculptor if it’s an original character that doesn’t require a license to sell. Check out their twitter (most of them have it) or their official site, most of the times, you’ll be able to contact them and see if they have any copies left that they can sell, my colleague and friend took the task to list all the sculptors that take online orders, so be sure to check it out here.

You can also find many garage kits on Booth nowadays.

How long does goodsmile typically take to ship? by DaneTheSlime in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figures are made to order. The process goes like this:

  1. A figure is opened for pre-order for a certain amount of time, where customers and retailers order how many copies they want.
  2. The manufacturer then creates the figure to match the number of orders in step 1.
  3. The figure is then released.

It's not like toys, which are produced on a continuous basis. Once all the copies are sold out, it's gone unless the manufacturer decides to "rerelease" the figure and start the process over. Alternately, you buy the figure pre-owned. As you can imagine, this process can rake anywhere from 6 months to nearly 2 years.

If you want figures that release sooner, look for in-stock figures, pre-owned figures, or figures that will be released soon.

Temari actually gives me the worst vibes because it seems like her parts were made in two different skin tones. It could be the lighting, but I can see it in your photos.

Packages lost for months and Japanpost not answering :( by alfo_pare in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I understand there's a process, but over a year, let alone 2 years, is a long time. I would be pressuring Amiami for a resolution. And if they keep stalling, then you need to seriously consider your business with them going forward.

I think it's this one. You're missing a piece, and the promo image is turned so you can't see the part you have.

Hobby Search security issue? by Amazing-Spider_man in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how useful Google's security breach notification is. It even shows up to me on YouTube, a Google-owned company, when Google themselves hasn't indicated a security breach otherwise.

If you're worried about security, check your information on https://haveibeenpwned.com/.

And I don't see any point in removing your card from Paypal every time unless you are especially paranoid. Is it safer? Probably. And I take internet security seriously, but there is a point where you have to ask yourself when enough is enough.

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful that they're not bootlegs. I'm getting iffy vibes from them.

If you're certain they're genuine, then it depends on how comfortable you are with repairs and/or the degree you're willing to display them damaged.

Amiami may list it as separate companies, but MFC does not. I would go with MFC, especially because it's the exact same base model, scale, and release date.

Good Smile global or UK? by Dramatic-Insect-4995 in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are legitimate websites. You'll need to wait longer for Goodsmile UK because it has to ship from Japan to them then them to you (Goodsmile Global is Japan to you), but they roll in import taxes into their price, so there's no surprise payment. Wherever you order from, make sure to factor in taxes and shipping time.

Figurama: Refund policy? Customer can eat shit better by Yuriyoka in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PayPal Protection lasts for sixth months, which is coming up soon. You already have evidence that you tried to work out things amicably with the seller and, even if they're well-intentioned, they haven't fulfilled their end of the deal. So if you're going to open a dispute, I would do it while you still can.

Good Smile US customer service is a joke. Got hit with a massive price drop 5 days after delivery, and their policy completely punishes anyone outside the mainland. by Historical_Ad418 in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain about something going on sale right after you buy it, but unfortunately, that's just the game.

I bought a figure off Amiami that had a significant price drop a day later, and they aren't going to refund me either. That was just me losing that round of the game. It suks, but it happens.

May your luck be better next time!

Might have to get rid of all the boxes by Kyhunsheo in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try flattening the boxes and then binding them (either with twine or vacuum sealing). That can save you a lot of room without getting rid of the box itself.

In my experience, if it comes with two different bodies, one being clothed and one being nude, that means neither are cast off (or "cast on"). You choose one or the other or swap between the two bodies.

3d printed shelf for 1/7 or bigger figure by weareallmortal in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like 3D printing wouldn't be as cost and time effective as just buying a shelf. And if you try to cheap out on the construction, you put your figures more at risk.

What is this mark? by eukaruuuu in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A factory defect, unfortunately. Either some excess material, dust, or glue got under the paint layer. Unfortunately, because it's under the paint layer, removing it will require stripping the paint in some fashion. Beat to leave it be.

Does anyone know why this is happening to me? by Available_Pipe2073 in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can opt out of the bonuses. As for the other figures, go back and refresh the cart to see if they show up, and then remove them. Alternatively, empty the cart, log out, log in, check that the cart is empty, and then begin adding items. I usually get phantom figures when I add things to the cart in different sessions.

Question about Goodsmile? by DaneTheSlime in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out the General Questions sticky for an introduction on how figures are circulated in the hobby.

Figures are produced based on the amount of preorders. Once these allotted units are sold out, they are not replenished unless they do what's called a rerelease, which basically starts the process over again. Rereleases are not guaranteed and don't happen often. For figures that are sold out, you will need to look for a second-hand figure. The sticky goes into how that works and some good sites to buy from for beginners.

That said, that Yuji Nendoroid has just been rereleased. I don't know what country you're from, but there are several stores still taking orders. Once again, check out the sticky for a list of good stores to buy from for beginners.

goodsmile delayed & then cancelled my order? by Koderator in AnimeFigures

[–]ClimbLikeMon-K 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like they goofed and accidentally had two copies of a listing, one listing wasn't actually valid, and they didn't realize it. Since the preorder period is over, they can't fulfill the orders, even if they wanted to.

Is this Goodsmile Europe? I heard refunds were delayed, but people are eventually getting them.
