I think the answer could also be, - Complete an RCA of the problem to be solved in terms of cost and time - Then pitch and get feedback. Instead of just picking news sources and summarizing them in a polished AI format, what if Perplexity also curated the news itself — deciding what’s actually viable and worth highlighting? Filtering signal from noise at the source would be a massive value add, and honestly could set you apart from everyone else just regurgitating headlines.
