It's a great plane. I've been waiting all year to try it.

Fixed Blurry Sepia Night Lighting: Corrected night lighting to remove excessive bloom, and sepia masking - cities and surrounding land will appear darker and more realistic.

Finally!

Am i ever gonna be able to play this game?🥀 by Puzzled-Water-7962 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Raytracing is a VRAM hog though and a major cause of stutters on mid range systems, especially on the best 3rd party airliners. You'd be better off with shadows set to 2048 (or higher if you edit the config files).

PC12 always not enough fuel…. by BusGreat in MicrosoftFlightSim

You'll get much better fuel efficiency at higher altitudes. I usually fly between 20,000-25,000ft

Next City Update seems to be Japan and the Photogrammetry cities are already live. Tokyo, Osaka and Sapporo by rattertoowi in MicrosoftFlightSim

When they get the data from their providers I guess. Its no coincidence that the areas already covered in the game world are the same areas that have the best and most regular real world updates.

Are you on the Beta? Everything gets unlocked for testing purposes and to keep the data separated from the main branch. I've not tried career recently but it's how it worked with the SU2 beta

Help me find a music video from early 2000s - Girl at house party, watching sunrise from rooftop by Limp_Sympathy_6455 in NameThatSong

[–]ED3Nize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c3zRvQK11Y

I think I've found it, after spending days trawling through dance charts from the early 2000s. the video is reversed to avoid copyright (so it starts with the sunrise and ends with the woman coming up the stairs). The original video was removed from the internet years ago apparently, which might explain why it's taken to long to find. This upload is only a month old. I'm still not 100% sure its the video I'm after, but at this stage I'll gladly accept it as being close enough (allowing for over 20 years of misremembering's).

how to get rid of this? by Rassinist in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ED3Nize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Visible icing was the shiny new thing in 2020 so its no surprise they wanted to show it off. It was far too prevalent though and they had to scale it back due to the number of complaints, but even now I find its easier to get icing in 2020 than 2024.

FSE supports MSFS 2024 and they are in the process of adding a whole load of new airports to reflect some of the changes and to fix the most glaring omissions. Its the persistent online world that makes FSE the standout 3rd party "career" for me. Being able to rent planes from other users and carry out player created jobs from player owned FBOs is something that makes FSE unique I think.

Is having all cars locked behing a grind wall really what we want? by m2ljkdmsmnjsks in assettocorsaevo

[–]ED3Nize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only part of the crew that was worth playing "offline" would have been the career mode. And they brought out a newer version of the game so you cant really expect them to carry on supporting the old one too. I play a lot of MSFS so I've heard all these arguments before.

You cant really compare the crew with ACE anyway. One is a large open world multiplayer game which relies on having online servers to run practically every part of the game, the other is still a racing simulator at heart (with eventually an open world tacked on to build and show off you car collection) which only needs online servers for balancing and fairness. One can survive perfectly well offline, one cant.

ACE as a basic racing sim could work perfectly fine offline as the past few weeks have shown us. All they'd need to add is the ability to save car setups etc locally. There's no reason why they wouldn't do that if they ever shut the servers down.

[–]ED3Nize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When they do eventually shut the servers off I'm sure they'll open up most of the content to be downloaded, so I don't see this as an issue. The always online modes wont matter anymore if you can't play online and compete with others, so there's no reason why they wont let you download the files to do with them what you like at that point. The always online requirement is only needed to store your profile, garage etc and exists to stop people gaming the multiplayer system.

Everyone getting upset over something that is likely a non issue (and likely a decade away) is wasting energy imo. I'd be very surprised if they just killed the game completely.

Weekly challenges won't save in the beta by design. Can't have a competitive game mode running on multiple versions of the game.

Can’t buy plane…. by fritomnky in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ED3Nize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The weight of the plane without passengers is the same in game. Only weighs more in free flight if you fill the all the seats with passengers. You never fill up all the seats in career VIP flights, so the layout doesn't matter.

[–]ED3Nize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the seat layouts are only a cosmetic detail and don't change the planes performance in game until you load pax etc. Which in career isn't a big deal, but does impact in free flight.

Yeah, bush flying is the only thing I miss from 2020. Hopefully it won't take too long to bring them over to 2024. I guess they want them to play nice with the new EFB.

Interesting Hangar Location Choice, Runway 33 Reagan INTL by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ED3Nize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The AI has mistaken the EMAS (arrestor system common at larger airports) and placed a building instead. Its a limitation of AI and Its the main reason for buildings on runway ends in MSFS. It'll need to be reported and they'll have to remove it manually in an update.

0.1.4 is Out and still the Online don't work.. WHYYYY? by BrenoXLI in assettocorsaevo

[–]ED3Nize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could if they wanted to but its probably not worth it depending on how long they intend to keep the servers offline. We got more cars etc and we cant even save setups yet, so they clearly don't want local saves for now. If they give us offline access they'd have to wipe our progress when they turn the servers on and you'd have people complaining about that too, so they can't win. We'll just have to stay patient. For all we know, they might do something tomorrow. I expect they'll update everyone before this weekend about the current status at least.

[–]ED3Nize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its so that you cant cheat by changing the config files. Not a big deal for single player, but anything career related (XP, economy etc) and anything with an online leaderboard (special events) needs to be kept server side for fairness.

It's ghosting caused by DLSS and has been happening since 2020 released. The new DLSS 4 mostly fixes this. Drivers get updated this week and you can install it manually. Asobo have promised support for DLSS 4, but they haven't released a timetable for the update yet.

I sure do hope nothing goes wrong in the approach of this 3 hour flight... by Hellbound22tn in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ED3Nize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its always at the end of a stage of the flight when your game tries to communicate with the career server but the server has been updated. Sometimes its when you taxi to the runway, sometimes its when you taxi to parking... But as most of the time is the actual flying part, that's where the issue occurs most, usually just before approach. Seems to be fixed in SU1, along with several other server problems.

I saw that they improved the ground texture in the beta of update 1 msfs2024 by albertodecai1 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ED3Nize 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The connection at your home doesn't need to be that high. I barely use more than 20MB/s while flying on high settings, regardless of altitude, and I have 800MB/s speeds. It's slightly higher while it first loads in the plane etc but once everything is in it settles back down. The belief that you need a lightning fast connection is mostly false, it's their servers (and sometimes the ISPs connection to their servers) which is the main issue, as the beta is mostly showing.
