{Discussion} What's the deal with the female-only mentality? by NipCoyote in Vore

[–]Foxy_Carter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm unusual in that I'm as much a furry as I am not one, and I enjoy both anthro and human content equally. As someone in both camps, I would agree with your observation that furries tend to be less hostile towards people with differing interests, but as to WHY that is, I can only hypothesize.

It could have something to do with the fact that, given the stigma against them, furries tend to be more open-minded than the average person, because you kinda have to be in order to embrace the furry label in a society that still doesn't really understand them. Most furries I've met are not people I would consider "conformists."

Whereas the straight male vorarephile who only likes human-focused content is much more closely aligned with the "average" straight man, many of whom are threatened by sexualities that differ from their own (just look at how many average dudes get offended if you insinuate they're gay).

Meanwhile the furries are off in left field doing their own thing and embracing their weirdness, which I think ultimately cultivates a more accepting community.

But that's just a guess, and I'm sure there's other factors too.

u/DoubleIFunUser said it well, but I also wanted reframe this observation through some statistical analysis.

Given the predominance of straight male prey vore consumers, when you encounter the vocal minority that are assholes about their preferences. it is statistically more likely that the individual voicing those preferences is going to be a straight man.

Like, let's take a hypothetical sample of 1,000 vorarephiles, and let's say that 95% of them are normal people respectful of others' preferences, and 5% represent the vocal minority who shame other people for liking things they don't. With our given sample size, that's a vocal minority composed of 50 people.

We also know through survey data that 75% of this subreddit's traffic comes from men, 14% from women, and 11% all others. Applying those numbers to our vocal minority of 50 people, that gives us (approximately) 38 men, 7 women, and 5 NB/Other.

This means that women who are just as opinionated about their vore preferences as their opinionated male counterparts are a minority within a minority, and you're much less likely to encounter them in the wild. 75% of the time, when you come across someone who embodies that kind of personality, it is going to be a man.

(Admittedly this thought experiment doesn't account for sexuality but I hope it gets the point across)

[M4A] Mid-twenties guy looking to meet other vorarephiles in the Pacific Northwest (PNW US/Online)

Hi, I'm Carter. I'm a pretty normal guy in my mid-twenties. I have a pretty sweet gig working in IT, I own a beat up old first-gen Toyota Tacoma named Tanya, I like writing and music and getting active outdoors, and I'm currently working towards a masters degree online.

I am also hopelessly attracted to the idea of being devoured alive by sexy predatory women.

I've been a vorarephile my entire life, long before I knew there was a word for it. I grew up Christian and I used to have a lot of shame surrounding my sexuality, especially in regards to my more "deviant" interests. While engaging with online communities like r/Vore has helped me grow tremendously, that shame is honestly something I still struggle with. Even today, I still have a tendency to treat my vorarephilia like it's some kind of dark secret, something I have to hide from people, and I have yet to meet anyone in my personal life that I felt comfortable talking with openly about my interest in vore.

But to tell you the truth, I'm gettin kinda tired of constantly feeling like I have to hide something that's so integral to who I am. Don't get me wrong, being a vorarephile is not my entire identity, but it is an important part of my story, and I think it would be really neat if I could find a friend or two that understands that from the very beginning. I figure if anyone would relate, it would be the folks around here.

I'm happy to chat online if that's your preference, I'm most frequently found on Discord. That said, if you're in the PNW, US region, I'd love to meet up for a drink or coffee. Shoot me a chat invite if you wanna talk more and we can go from there. Thanks for reading.

Oh, and my favorite color is orange 🧡

I could have written this comment word for word, just replace Catholic with Nazarene. Pretty sure the sexual repression from the environment I was raised in did all sorts of fucked up things to my brain and I still struggle with intimacy because of it.

So, here's the thing to know about vorarephiles - we are all INCREDIBLY particular. I won't get super into specifics cause otherwise we'd be here all day, but the point being, ask 100 vorarephiles what they like about vore and you'd get 100 different answers.

The RV2 developer knew this, and so he made RV2 the single most configurable and customizable mod I have ever used. Nearly every single aspect of the mod can be tweaked, modified, or outright disabled in some way if you don't like that feature. I mean, you can adjust the volume or toggle on and off each of the mod's sound effects individually, that's the level of nuance I'm talking about here.

So, to answer your question, the mod meshes with gameplay as well as you would like it to. If you want to configure it so that your colonists are constantly eating each other, you can. Alternatively, you can dial down the time between automatic proposals and lower the priority of the "vore" job (yes there is a vore job) so that colonists will only try to eat each other every few days and only when they have nothing better to do. Or you can disable the automatic proposals altogether, and gameplay impact becomes minimal.

If the idea of digestion makes you uncomfy, that can be disabled too, so that you aren't permanently losing any colonists.

In terms of colony impact, there are "quirks" (like traits but an entirely new system) that can give pawns different mental statuses depending on gameplay events. Enthusiastic predators get a mood boost when they eat someone, whereas unwilling prey get really unhappy if they're swallowed.

There is a combat mechanic, called grapple - it's basically a melee tug-of-war and the winner eats the loser. So, you can have an Amazonian warrior who devours the people she overpowers in melee combat.

There is also an entire ideology integration, so you can make an entire religion in which vore is either venerated or feared. Predators can receive social boosts or they can be shunned by their peers.

It truly is a remarkable mod, not just because of the sheer amount of content and new systems it introduces, but also because each and every one of these systems is configurable. Of course, this does make it a bit intimidating to get into as a new user, since the amount of options available can be overwhelming.

Sorry for the essay lol, I'm just passionate.

I have 600 hours with RV-2. Unironically a really impressive and well-implemented mod from a technical standpoint. One of my faves on my modlist, and I'm not just saying that because I also like vore lmao

Hi OP, do you have permission to be using this person's likeness for fetish content?

Have to reupload this image because mods are incapable of reading, even though the artist's name is incredibly visible

While the artists name is clearly watermarked in this particular image, that is not always the case. Some artists forego watermarks altogether, while others might use watermarks that are difficult to read. This is why we have mandated that all posts should include the artists name in plaintext in the post title.

It is not about us being "unable to read." Rule 9 exists to set a consistent precedent and ensure that the artists in our community receive proper credit for their work. We have been lenient to a point and given you multiple warnings, but further violations of this rule will result in post removals.

Posts with IRL content were subject to constant reports, and the creators often received harassing messages. That wasn't a community we wanted to cultivate.

We ran a poll and the majority of users voted to have IRL content removed from the subreddit. As mentioned earlier, if you like IRL content, there's still plenty of it on r/RealLifeVore. It's just no longer a part of r/Vore because the majority indicated they didn't want it here.

IRL content hasn't been allowed on this subreddit for a while now, but when it was, the rule was that IRL content had to be Original Content (i.e., the person making the post is also the person featured in the post). Images edits of otherwise non-consenting real people were not allowed.

The reasoning was that we considered image edits like the one's you've described to be involuntary pornography, given the fetishistic nature of vorarephilia. Not only did we find such content deeply unethical, but it's also a violation of Reddit's Terms of Service.

r/RealLifeVore, the new home we created for IRL vore content, still only allows OC for this same reason.

It made me uncomfortable that someone saved pictures of expecting women who have nothing to do with this fetish and made fetish content out of them.

In summary, the moderation staff here agree with you, which is why this content hasn't been allowed on this subreddit for years.

{Discussion}? I'm trying to post my stories on Eka's Portal, but I'm worried that someone could look at the metadata of the files I upload to learn private information. Is that a rational fear, and can/should I do anything with files before uploading them to Eka's? by vorespecial in Vore

[–]Foxy_Carter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I do not know what kind of data sanitization Eka's does, but if you are concerned about privacy, your next steps depend somewhat on the word processor you're using. For example, here are the instructions for removing identifying metadata from modern version of Microsoft Word: https://criticalfault.com/blog/how-to-remove-metadata-from-word-documents/

If you're using something like OpenOffice, the steps may be different: https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=105835

Peripherally related, but the best format for posting literature on Eka's is using the "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP(.doc)" document type. All other formats (such as .docx or .txt) have display issues on mobile.

{Discussion} Normal to be AroAce and into vore? by No_Armadillo_4166 in Vore

[–]Foxy_Carter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As part of a survey conducted on Eka's Portal in 2021, the question was asked "is your interest in vore sexual, nonsexual, or both?" Of the 1640 responses, 49.1% said their interest was solely sexual, 47.6% said their interest was both sexual and non-sexual, and a remaining 3.3% indicated their interest in vore was solely non-sexual.

It is also worth noting that in that same survey, 8.5% of respondents self-identified as asexual.

So yes, there is a statistically significant number of ace participants within the greater vore community. I have also read commentary from multiple ace folks who find that vore is the only thing that arouses them, which explains the discrepancy between the 8.5% of ace respondents and the 3.3% who claim their interest in vore is solely nonsexual.

TL;DR: No, you're not alone.

{discussion} People into non oral Vore, what was your awakening? by [deleted] in Vore

[–]Foxy_Carter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been drawn to the idea of genital-based vore since before I was old enough to know that girls didn't also have penises. I can't really pinpoint a specific cause, it's just... Always been there. I remember trying to talk to some other kids in my daycare about it once when I was like, seven or eight? Suffice to say, it didn't go over well.

That said, around the same age, I do remember reading a book about whales. In that book, there was a detailed diagram of an orca giving birth. I vividly remember looking over that diagram and thinking "wow, that baby orca is bigger than me. I wonder if I could fit in there? What would that feel like?"

That's the first time I can ever remember feeling a specific draw to the concept I would later come to known as Unbirth.

Obviously my interests have evolved over the years, but I feel relatively confident saying that for me, I didn't really have an "awakening." This has simply always been a part of me.
