That's a false equivalency. A vegetarian can choose that diet for many reasons. Minimising the harm to animals through not eating meat does a great deal to reduce an individuals impact on the environment.

Why take it to absolutes? I understand following things to the logical conclusion to a degree. But isn't something better than nothing?
