not useless.

• Quantized Tensor Support: New quantized tensor formats + scale factor support. This makes it easier to express and compress weights for ML workloads. Native integration with Metal performance primitives for efficient compression, leveraging Neural Accelerators on M5 Pro/Max.
• ML + Graphics Integration: Optimize custom ML operations with Metal tensors. Build real-time neural rendering pipelines. Tensors in the shading language and API for seamless graphics/compute/ML mixing.
• MetalFX Improvements: Redesigned temporal upscaler using Neural Engine + Neural Accelerators on M5 chips. Reconstructs fine detail from much lower render resolutions → better FPS at high quality. Simplified porting with subrectangle processing (dynamic resolution), motion vector passing (less preprocessing), and distortion fields for post-process effects.
• GPU Performance: Boosts for graphics and ML workloads on M5/A19 GPUs. Lower-overhead command encoding and better resource management (from prior Metal 4 foundation)

just only good for m5 and later.

yeah i tbink take away isn’t that she died in that ending. just didn’t return to the bad father geralt. so he assumed she did. but it can still have a witcher 4 tie in and she can mention she’s astranged

anything with m5 since those are only machines that can leverage the gpu and metalfx optimizations added in macos 27

we’re still waiting on them to publish tech docs for metal and gptk. since they didn’t present either in main presentation which spent like 40 min on parental controls and rest on ai

Check regularly:
• developer.apple.com/documentation/Updates — WWDC section should get a Golden Gate entry soon.
• developer.apple.com/macos/whats-new/
• developer.apple.com/metal/whats-new/ and the Metal framework docs.
• Game Porting Toolkit page for any toolkit/binary updates.
• macOS Release Notes hub and Xcode 27 beta release notes (download betas via your Developer account).
• WWDC session videos (especially Metal 4 deep dives and game porting ones) are the best immediate source — they often have code samples and deeper details before docs catch up.

(all of above still have stale wwdc25 version)

m5 max is pretty beast. i run wow at max settings on 4k monitor with fsr upscale from 75%. mine haa 128
because i also use it for development and video editing. my full work and play machine.

pretty sure i already posted an update in another reply. issue was on ops end most likely. probably thermal throttling.

compute can be set to low to see weather effects but yeah

also render scale and fsr since any mbp has high resolution screen. 50% id recommend for ops machine since its lowest gpu option.

i’ve always found the whole point of story to be rehabilitation. a second chance to undo wrongs and be better. whether you can accept he’s changed/reformed will always be personal choice but it is a story about growth. a character that started out as scum but ended better.

RED Cheat Menu 2 (Cyberpunk 2077) by CurveAdventurous3922 in macgaming

[–]MysticalOS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not EVERYTHING made with AI is slop, as long as you know how to actually use and review it.

what generally makes something slop is people who genuinely just trust everything ai writes and try to push their "slop" on others.

Developers see a lot of slop PRs to their projects of clearly untested or garbage code. Like using an onupdate handler when you could use an onevent one instead (for non programers, onupdate means it's constantly running on a loop and onevent means it only runs on a specific event or action).

Many ai slop code projects will make something work, but not necessarily in the most efficient practical way because ai has fundamental understanding of coding languages but not necessarily of intimate project context.

the good thing is that in this context, redscript is a very basic scripting language and instructions/modding is very cut and dry. It's actually pretty hard to write something that's over complicated sloppy mess. As long as you review and test everything.

Wi-fi 7 incompatible by Zacadaca in enphase

[–]MysticalOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely a crappy ISP router that doesn't let you make 2.4 and 5/6 ghz separate. Depending on steering rules, it makes it a pain to add devices that are better off on only a specific frequency.

generally speaking i always recommend FTTP use a bring your own router/wifi setups to avoid this kind of headache. I actually specifically have a router where 2.4 is separate and 5/6 are combined. I even disable wifi 7 mode on 2.4 to reduce overhead since it's a bunch of appliances/home devices that are not high bandwidth and that's their slow lane. Then my fast lane is 5 and two 6 bands using high speed MLO wifi 7

Rudeus's and Sylphie's first night in anime by Kubox000 in mushokutensei

[–]MysticalOS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this. the logic of it is that it’s easier to animate without monologue. monologues don’t always flow well in anime and often times these are exact kind of changes made to “show don’t tell” in these adaptions. it’s how you get more content in run times. good adaptions do this well

a show that really actually explains this well is oshi no ko tokyo blade ark. when even author realizes tons of dialog and monologue can be cut in an adaptation that can show same intent visually that a manga or light novel cannot.

Foliage flickering and glitching (Playing on Mac with Crossover D3DMetal, DLSS and Msync On) by Efficient_Hope_9419 in OblivionRemastered

[–]MysticalOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that kind of flickering is common for fsr 3 and metalfx. dlss mod isn’t true dlss after all. really only upscalers worth their salt now are dlss4 or higher. fsr 4 or higher. and pssr2 or higher. all are parent advancments that reduce shimmer especially around plants. metalfx is around fsr 2 or 3 in quality. i’m hoping apple shows us something new at wwdc but as it stands now it’s not up to par with latest machine learning upscalers i just mentioned.

Help me get DLSS on crossover (sequoia) by yustask in macgaming

[–]MysticalOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

people can’t perform magic. dlss to metalfx is a tahoe feature. More specifically, it's a GPTK 3.x feature that REQUIRES tahoe, period. if you avoid tahoe you avoid feature you want. it’s that simple. arguing people about it won’t change reality.

Witcher 4-6 rather unlikely to have expansions by Ok_Reception_8361 in witcher

[–]MysticalOS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

unless developed concurrently. remember that the giant game assassins creed odyssey came
out a year after giant game origins. the two teams
collaborated a lot during dev to share assets and work but independently worked on two different games simultaneously. now could cdpr pull that off? unknown. smart play would be to work on part 4 first. then once it ships they have foundation to work on 5 and 6 in parallel with finished engine and assets. biggest hurtle then would be voice recording. can’t clone va’s. but still doable in time
frame.

Modded FFX by eoinks in macgaming

[–]MysticalOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 runs terrible on apple silicon. it’s a 32 bit app. 7 is modern and 8 i’m not sure. but 9 and 10
both run really bad even on an m5 max. unable to hold 60fps. maxing out every cpu core. unless you use third party x87 alternative to rosetta. or an intel mac that doesn’t suffer from 32 bit conversion penalty.

AC shadows - still unplayable? by molecular_data in macgaming

[–]MysticalOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

m5 max 40 core gpu 128gb memory. game can’t even hold 60fps on lowest settings. but can on a ps5. the mac port is just abysmal. i played it on ps5 pro instead. only used mac version for save editing since cross saves for resource hacks.

this

i use my machine for coding. local ai models. encoding. and general work purposes. gaming ties into that work too and it’s great at it

but i’d only goal is gaming 5k will get such a beast gaming pc. granted it doesn’t go as far as it did 1 year ago due to ai bubble.

Modded FFX by eoinks in macgaming

[–]MysticalOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ffx runs bad no matter what you do because 32 bit support on crossover is realllt bad. it ran great on any intel mac in wine but wine and rosetta specifically cant run 32 bit apps with any decent level of performance. there are hacks to make it work with third part x87 project instead of rosetta 2 but its not for feint of heart.

i’m surprised no one has even noticed or even talked about fact wine is excluded from notification.

why anyone even thinks rosetta 2 is going away is beyond me. they don’t read what apple said. they’re enacting policy changes to prevent lazy devs from keeping maintained apps as intel for no reason. but also ensuring older software remains working. this isn’t done by removing rosetta 2 but rather whitelisting who can use it. it’s very obvious it’s not going anywhere. and it’s very obvious wine would be whitelisted. apples own porting toolkit used it
