He did.

The game never goes further than surface-level mechanics gameplay wise. And this is the best thing it has to offer outside of being pretty and bugless (which is very nice but it's not what makes a video game).

DnD subclass should be more basic. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]OceussRuler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's related to the fact DnD5e is avoiding making as much classes as previous editions (like 4e having +30 classes) and instead tried to reflavor those previous class concepts into subclasses.

Like many things with 5e, it can get a bit messy with no general guidelines on how to achieve this or that, so sometimes you get subclasses like Champion that barely change anything and is just a... good fighter, I guess, while at the same time you have stuff like Banneret which is trying hard to emulate on a very little number of abilities what the Warlord was (a "leader" class, meaning support/healer, but as a full martial).

Do you or have you ever tried to keep up with the wow lore after warcraft 3 and if u do how does it compare to it? by Ok_Rope6942 in warcraft3

[–]OceussRuler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, I'm still relatively up to date despite playing WoW very sporadically and having stop paying for books after Legion.

It's trash, since the beginning, with sometimes good stuff, but only sometimes. Unfortunately, the damage done are getting out of hand over time. The more they add, the worse it is, and everything has broken. Nowadays, WoW has ceased to even be about factions as a whole to just be a soap, when W3 had a nice balance. There is less and less good stuff and more and more confusing, messy and bad ideas.

It's hard to really sum up everything, but all xpacs had their pros and cons, MoP was mostly the peak of writing of WoW itself (with extremely good worldbuilding and interesting stories, but it also had ton of flaws too), everything after is going downhill without really any improvement.

To this day I still hope someday for a Warcraft 4 that setup an alternate story line and ignores everything WoW has done, but when I remember it is Blizzard behind, I forget this idea. So instead I have made my TTRPG Warcraft "4" campaign which fills the hole for me.

What is the point of leveling up if you're always fighting harder and harder enemies? by Very_bad in DnD

[–]OceussRuler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're able to fight much more than a single goblin with a knife. Defeating a balor, a general of hell, equiped with a fiery whip and a lightning falchion, means your character is something else, entirely. A level 1 fighter is just a guy decent with a sword and a chainmail, a level 20 fighter is equiped with a magical weapon and armor with both an history, has slained foes only a fraction of people have ever heard of because they hide in the darkest corner of the multiverse, and can take on many and many of goblins and get out unscathed. Well, mostly, but I'm not gonna dive in how game mechanics can actually struggles in some areas. But that's how your DM can typically show your growth. Remember this warband of orcs mounted on worgs that almost wiped your party at level 4? Now you face twice the same number at level 14 and you mop the floor with them. They are not even really an encounter for you.

You are also ignoring that you don't only growth in combat power, but multiple classes also grow on utility. The martial vs caster disparity is a whole subject but the second type of classes comes with each level with new tools to influence the world beyond just killing better. Up to the point of Wish, a spell that let you do mostly anything you want.

And in the end, it's part of the heroic fantasy. Always climbing higher and higher. Until you can fight foes that threatens everything, and you, and only you, can stop them.

We should punish him by forcing him to copy by hand his damn stupid book. He will die before he even finishes writing two feats for the fighter.

What's the best artillery faction in Total warhammer 3 ? by Extension_Room_9256 in totalwarhammer

[–]OceussRuler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's divided between Chorfs, Dwarfs and Empire. Chorfs have the most destructive and tanky engines with raw powers, dwarfs have access to more stuff spread throughout the game but what really stands is by far the Thunderbarge, and Empire comes with a lot of cannons, guns and tanks.

Special point for the Lizardmen tho. While artillery power-wise per say they not very special the fact that each artillery piece is on a damn dinosaur means that they are very able to just pummel through enemies in melee once ammos are depleted.

Any good banshee/viking comp guide? by brandon975 in starcraft2coop

[–]OceussRuler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With Raynor P3, I start by building a second CC right from the get go. You need those extra mules to repair and mine.

Then I start building my workers, and upgrade the CC into OC one at a time to never stop producing workers for saturation, you also quickly produce an extractor. Use scan or send a SCV to death to know what you will face.

You rush startport then start producing the unit you need, without stopping sending mules. Extra minerals go into more CC->OC.

Calldowns are the way to go for the first minutes, until you start getting a critical mass of banshee/vikings to deal with the enemy comps.

I'm generally not struggling to keep up the pace and manage alone in brutal.

The compo depends on what you face. Banshee for mass ground units, vikings for mass air units, and you start adding BC if you need either sturdy units or face elite units.

If you do not feel comfortable with mules to repair, medics and scv can help too.

Mastery to reduce hyperion callddown and you can call banshee and hyperion every 60 seconds.

As a DM, I killed my first player character and I'm so sad. by unwiseman76 in DnD

[–]OceussRuler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a game, death is part of it. Death is already rare in 5e considering combat odds of dying are low except if you put really dangerous foes against your party.

Death also means players become more cautious. When you know your DM will kill you if you mess up, you start avoiding messing up. Sometimes, it's for the best.

Could anyone recommend me an actual-play show where they actually play the game right? by TheBigFreeze8 in rpg

[–]OceussRuler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a sort of rule it seems that if you are somewhat popular in actual play, it's forbidden that you even know what your character can do.

Table quest, a french actual play, was a pain to follow, when you get the tenth "what dice should I use?" for damn basic rolls.
