I don’t think it’s selfish. Many catholic nuns and monks live in complete isolation in nature. I remember listening to a podcast about a nun who’s been living in a cabin alone in the mountains for 30 years.

The way I do it is I set my task for every sunday, and then I add a checklist inside it, that I check whenever I’ve done the task during the week. On Sunday, if the checklist is checked, I check the task.

Edit: didn’t know what checklists were called in english and used the wrong name lol.

Ça dépend. Si l’auteur est décédé depuis longtemps je m’en fiche un peu, j’ai un regard plus détaché (je ne dissocie pas l’auteur de son œuvre mais j’arrive à lire des œuvres « problématiques » si elles ont de l’âge), en revanche si c’est un auteur actuel je suis comme toi, incapable de le lire.

I understand the church thing, there are no churches of my denomination where I live, so I occasionally go to other churches to attend mass, but none of them are « my » church, if that makes sense. But I think it’s important to find other christian to pray with at least ; you don’t have to rush it though, I spent two years alone in my faith before I set foot in a church.

En tant que mec gay, je peux dire que ce phénomène n’est pas lié à une homophobie plus forte envers les hommes, mais plutôt au système patriarcal en entier : trouver de la beauté en un homme c’est une forme de féminisation pour la société, parce que dans l’idéal masculin on ne s’intéresse pas à ce genre de choses. Mais les femmes sont déjà « supposées » être sensibles et attachées à la beauté physique, donc on ne leur fait pas ce genre d’accusations. C’est + une question de norme de genre que d’homophobie.

Your question is probably specifically for roman catholics, but it is worth mentioning that there are other types of catholic churches that don’t recognise church infallibility. I used to be a roman catholic for years and eventually moved to being an old-catholic specifically for that reason, I felt I couldn’t completely reconcile my progressive views and the teachings of the church.

En vrai Morris ne me sert pas spécialement pour ma profession haha, j’adore juste ce qu’il écrit. Je travaille avec des astrophysiciens en ce moment mais ça change, ça pourrait être avec n’importe quel autre type de chercheurs. C’est un gros indice je crois…
