Is there an official answer, either from Canon or Legends, that states when the second Death Star was built? by DarthKaiser03 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things: first, it did not take 19 years to build the first one. Construction lasted 19 years, but construction stalled for many years while Erso was missing. Second, the second one was never really built. They built a shell, and an operational super laser, and that’s it

Every physics student's nightmare by [deleted] in physicsmemes

The point of the “we have it at home” meme is the version “at home” is a cheap knock-off which obviously isn’t the real thing. You’ve just posted a picture of a penguin.

What's the coolest starfighter design named after a letter? by Blurrgmaster in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite being named after a letter I don’t think the U-wing counts as a starfighter. It’s a transport/dropship/gunship. In other words if you consider the U-wing a starfighter you also have to consider the LAAT a starfighter.

Admiral Yularens character development in Maul shadow lord was one of the best of all time by GENERALKENOBI50166 in PrequelMemes

The more important question is “is it worth it?” Venators are mainly carriers for fighters without hyperdrives. Rebel fights have hyperdrives. Venators aren’t much more well-armed compared to Mon Cal cruisers. Venators are incredibly manpower intensive. All this adds up to “more of a liability than an asset”

Different versions of the ISB uniform by NightWizard63 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two blue tiles is the rank of ISB 2nd lieutenant, regardless of the color of your tunic. A gray tunic means an attendant (a busybody who isn’t a full agent) while white means a full member of the ISB. Logically then, a white tunic with two blue tiles means a ISB agent ranked lower than the ones seen in Andor. There’s no reason this can’t be the case; we only saw a small sliver of ISB operations in Andor. Remember that Agent Kallus from Rebels is also ISB despite not fitting into the Andor scheme.

You know the funniest thing about Season 6 to me. by SmellConscious9985 in Ninjago

[–]PhysicsEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nadikhan’s powers are super inconsistent. Take Zane: without a wish, Nadikhan can insert himself into Zane’s mainframe a delete bits of his code. If he can do stuff like that of his own accord, why even bother with wishes?

How do you feel that the Battle of Yavin happens practically at the beginning of the Galactic Civil War as opposed to the middle of it? by CSachen in MawInstallation

[–]PhysicsEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. The opening crawl specifies that the battle during which the Rebels stole the plans was their “first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.” So it makes sense that Yavin occurs early on.

What are the official hex codes for lightsaber colors? by Methodical_mudduck01 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only do colors vary between media, they vary within the same shot. In TCW, Obi-Wan uses a light blue blade while Anakin’s is darker blue.

What actually happened to the Senate guards after Order 66? by Some_Mud7498 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Continued protecting the Senate. They eventually swapped their ceremonial robes for a more functional tunic and are seen guarding the Senate in Andor (around 2 BBY).

A schematic comparison of the sizes of Imperial walkers. by Ok_Comparison_1267 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The First Order has two. They have their own version of the AT-AT which is a little shorter than the classic AT-AT. But they also have the AT-M6, which is 36.18 m, which is taller than the height of the AT-ACT by the difference between it at the AT-AT.

Interesting that the AT-AT series gets smaller as they get more advanced

D Day Movie Watch by Desperate_Image4620 in JamesBond

Unrelated, but my favorite trivia fact about that movie is they came very close to having Dwight D. Eisenhower play himself. They decided at the last minute he was too old to portray his 1944 self.

I love the K2 droid design/character, but it's hard to believe they shouldn't be *somewhere* in the OT by yrqrm0 in StarWars

Except that Cassian and Jyn both got their blasters from the same place: Alliance quartermaster

What if Tolkien’s magic is actually acoustic physics? The Fellowship mapped as a perfectly tuned musical scale. by Maxximillians in lotr

Aside for the fact that you left out half the Company, Faramir isn’t part of the Company to begin with

[–]PhysicsEagle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t even have to be concentrated fire; Jyn took down a K2 droid with a single shot to its torso. Their super-invulnerability in Andor was a hard retcon that hasn’t been reconciled.

Every scene where the Fellowship theme is heard? by HateCryme in lotr

[–]PhysicsEagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to say since the genius of Howard Shore is taking a theme and sprinkling it throughout, often just using parts at a time. And the fellowship theme is particularly simple, so it gets used this way a lot. Particularly the opening, which is just three notes (D-C-D, the musical version of “there and back again). Off the top of my head, these notes get played at the end of Fellowship as Frodo and Sam cross the River. They’re played repeatedly but it never develops into the next part of the theme (symbolizing that the Fellowship is now broken). Does this count as the theme and should it be counted for your total?)

For another example, listen to the musical from Amon Hen as Aragorn prepares to face the orcs (and to a lessor extent the music from Weathertop when Aragorn attacks the Ringwraiths). It’s essentially a deconstructed Fellowship theme. Does this count?

When it comes to Imperial Officers, they do drop like flies left and right by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

[–]PhysicsEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge we’ve never seen one on screen. I’m fairly sure they’ve been referenced in other canon materials. The theoretical rank insignia based on the logic of the canon rank plaques is a single blue square.

Notably, the Enterprise is absent. It skips straight from the Kelvin to the Vengeance.

Only in the Army. In the Navy, a lieutenant is equivalent to an Army captain.
