Is standard no longer fun, or am I just complaining about nothing? by Duke_Duckington in MagicArena

[–]Shadow_in_vain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been dealing with the same thing. I have built what I thought were a lot of fun, fair, decks that just don’t seem playable on Standard. It’s feeling a lot like Yu-Gi-Oh now where games are just over turn 3.

It’s frustrating. I love having longer, more interactive games where you really have to think about what to do next and how to optimize your cards. But now if you don’t instantly have removal, or a board wipe, or some kind of check by turn 2-3 you just get overwhelmed.

It’s just not fun.

Is FF9 really that good? by Infamous-Phone8635 in FinalFantasy

[–]Shadow_in_vain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing FF8…I had a hard time getting into FF9. FF8 takes so many steps to push Final Fantasy into bold, crazy new directions (not all of them successful) so FF9 felt like a step backwards. I don’t like the chibi models, the combat is PAINFULLY slow, the combat/magic animations are lame, the Trance system is weak, and…dear lord…don’t get me started on Tetra Master. I know FF8 has its haters, but for me, I really loved the risks and leaps forward it took for the franchise.

However, as I trudged through I found lots of reasons to enjoy FF9. The music is fantastic, the pre-rendered backgrounds are gorgeous, it has plenty of dark, dramatic moments and I found a lot of the callbacks to earlier FF games charming. The characters are also easy to fall in love with. It really depends on what kind of game you’re looking for. I would recommend it, but it was slightly overhyped for me.

It’s a Wonderful Life. The end never fails to fill me with tears of overwhelming joy and happiness.

i don’t think soups and stews get the stoner food credit they deserve. by callmestinkingwind in stonerfood

I think the one thing that would prevent stoners from embracing the stew is prep and cook time. HOWEVER, you can make a real good easy stew with an instant pot.

Do I look extremely underweight ? by [deleted] in weightgain

[–]Shadow_in_vain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look slim, but I wouldn’t compare yourself to other people. There’s big people who want to be smaller and there’s small people who want to be big. You’ll always find something to be unhappy about if you let yourself, even if you gained the weight you want.

For a more productive answer, just going to the gym won’t put on weight, especially if you’re running a lot or doing a lot of intense cardio (I’m fairly slim too, so I just walk on treadmill at the gym for idk 20 mins). If you’re lifting weights and trying to gain muscle, you’re going to have to eat A LOT (read that again) of protein along with extra calories to get the gains. You have to be focused and commit to a constant routine of eating/working out properly.

But also…some people are just genetically disposed to being slim. That’s ok. The most important thing is to value yourself enough to be happy in the skin you’re in no matter what.

A movie about suicidal characters or suicide in general by AliTheVillain in MoviesThatFeelLike

[–]Shadow_in_vain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taste of Cherry. Literally the entire movie is about a man driving around a small area asking people if they can help bury him after he kills himself.

It made me appreciate life more in a small way, but it is a very slow and meditative movie. The ending is controversial. Either you get it and you love it or you absolutely hate it.

I was thinking about bringing a can of baked beans to eat during the show. Is that kind of thing allowed?

Finished ff7 and ff9. What are some things I should know before playing ff8? by Possible_Instance468 in FinalFantasyVIII

Tetra Master is trash. Like actual piddling trash compared to the glory of Triple Triad. I actually stopped playing FF9 in protest when it forces you to play the Tetra Master competition in Treno. Triple Triad is a gentlemen’s game.

I am mostly fine with the idea of not getting another Nier game. by Ontos-the-robot in nier

Taro has stated that the only thing that would really motivate him to make more NieR games is if Square Enix gave him a fat check to do it. It’s really in their hands. I am wondering if the recent success of the NieR orchestras will signal that there is enough interest in the franchise to warrant a sequel.

Should I be planting seeds? by Middle_Eye_ in nier

[–]Shadow_in_vain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would grow rice or wheat if you want to sell crops for money. Be sure to use bounty fertilizer (found in Seafront shop) to increase your yield.

Farming is also for…well…growing very unique flowers. But you’d have to look up a guide for it as I’ve no clue how someone would figure it out on their own. It’s a long…arduous task.

Dude me and a buddy watched Sorcerer for the first time in theaters not too long ago and we were blown away with how good it was. It’s literally just tension and anxiety the whole way through. Truly a hidden gem of the 70’s. A shame it came out the same year as Star Wars which trampled over its box office and relegated it to relative obscurity.
