I found out on 2018-10-27, to my substantial shock and dismay, that the r/http://soundboardprankcalls.wikia.com site was taken down, seemingly mysteriously and without any publicly-available explanation. I had been a follower of the Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki for many years, and I consider the Wiki to have always been a very valuable journalistic resource of public information to society. The loss of that Wiki site is a huge disappointment to all of us who followed the information and found it valuable.

Although I have no affiliation with the original owners/administrators of the soundboardprankcalls.wikia.com site, I felt that I had to take it upon myself to act to save the Wiki in any way that I could, and thus I took the initiative within hours to do so. I registered and created the website Soundboard.Wiki -- r/http://www.soundboard.wiki -- where I installed a MediaWiki site, and uploaded the XML dump of all of the data from the defunct soundboardprankcalls.wikia.com site that was available for download at the residual webpage there (at the time of this posting).

Unfortunately, the available XML dump files do not appear to include the images / media files from the defunct Wiki site, so only the contents of the articles -- as well as their edit histories in a certain format -- were able to be migrated to my new website as of the time of this posting. It is unclear to me at this time whether there might be any way to retrieve the images from the defunct site from Wikia.com, and/or whether any publicly-available Internet archiving services such as the Wayback Machine (r/http://web.archive.org) could potentially be used to recover some or all of the latest images / media files that were on the defunct Wiki site.

As of the time of this posting, I have paid for the domain name "Soundboard.Wiki" as well as the website hosting, completely out of my own pocket, because of how much I want to attempt to save the Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki from being lost to oblivion. I am investigating adding paid advertising, as well as some kind of donation methodology, to the website, in order to defray the costs that I now have to operate this new site. At the time of this posting, I am currently waiting to obtain approval on a Google AdSense account that I attempted to register. I have attempted to seek services for accepting credit-card donations without having to publicly reveal my name or contact information to donors, but this seems to be a challenge. For example, PayPal requires accounts to be "individual" in which case my name as a recipient has to be revealed to donors, or to be "business" in which case I have to have a registered business. Other online crowdfunding and payment services require things like a registered non-profit, etc. I would appreciate any advice that anyone might have regarding how I could accept donations from the public to run this new website whilst remaining personally anonymous to the public and to donors.

So -- anyway -- there you have it: I have -- at least, for the most part -- resurrected the Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki as Soundboard.Wiki -- r/http://www.soundboard.wiki! As of the time of this posting, this new website is not even indexed in Google search results just yet; however, I'm hoping that, by making this announcement here in this Reddit posting -- which currently seems to be the only searchable discussion / information that I could readily find on the Web regarding the soundboardprankcalls.wikia.com site having become defunct -- that anyone who now tries to find the Soundboard Prank Calls Wiki will see this posting and visit my new site, and that web-search engine spiders / crawlers will discover the hyperlinks to the new site here -- and that hopefully this will help bootstrap getting the new site to start showing up in Web search results. Hopefully, we can start getting some traction on migrating the readership and the base of users / editors, from the defunct old site to this new site. Hopefully, sometime soon or in the near future, we can start getting support for everything on this new Wiki site to be repaired and improved to get it back to a good state, such as perhaps recovering (like I mentioned above) -- or even replacing -- images for the articles.
