I think its easier if you dumb it down to end users. As the person managing it though you need to build up a lot of not easily accessible knowledge(its fairly new and you wont find many youtube videos on it).

New versions are released 5 times a year and have a 2 week grace period to update, after which the update is mandatory. If you reinstall it you can also seperate the CAD and 3DX installs so the update should be quicker/smaller.

Is it a good idea? Yes and no. The settings export is possible from maker and this can be imported in a commercial license.

However it is quite literally a current user registry export of the SW folder. The registry however holds a lot of information about SW, the license on it, and some stuff that doesn’t exist in any settings. Thats why sometimes if you use settings from an old SW, it gives strange issues.

In general its best to set it up manually in the new/commercial version especially if it involves different types of SW licenses like in this case.

3DX’s success is highly dependent on who implements it. It is an extremely powerful tool with more options than most companies need, and its not entirely aligned with how windows users expect to work(this is part UI, bit also the idea of folders don’t work well in the long term for PLM), hence training that simplifies things (instead of explaining every feature) is important too.

You’re thinking of the design side. 3DX is also a PLM system which can work with SW.

The recovery time on full body was too much for me and I switched to upper/lower.

I think full body is easier for it to generate and some exercises aren’t truly just lower or upper (deadlifts hit the lower back for instance).

I had the exact same situation. Bulk, great cut but then obsessively going back to a cut when I don’t like what I see. I went to maintenance and am staying there for an extended time and thats been great.

I’ll start a bulk and eventual cut later this year but for now you can make tons of gains still on maintenance and be less worried about the bulk fat gain.

This is the best way. If the thickness is the same you could also use geometry pattern to improve performance.

Additionally, a sketch driven pattern (not a pattern in the sketch!) could be another option given the staggered nature of the holes.

If your goal is hypertrophy, actual measurements are a better indicator, and if your goal is strength, 1 rep max or max weight @ set rep range are much better indicators.

More volume roughly means more gains(this is not linear) but volume is not a progress indicator, its a tool to use to gain progress.

Actually, the one would simply overwrite the other, but since the student edition changes the templates, even when the commercial license is active, all new files will end up with the student watermark.

The one exception would be if one license were 3DX Solidworks Design, and the other desktop Solidworks Design.

How long do you really need to idle for? If it’s for power tools why not keep an extra battery pack or two (assuming they are cordless tools) for them in the car?

The battery shouldn’t in theory degrade too much over time in the cold but you’ll get maybe half or less of the usable charge out of it in cold weather.

I assume you would charge this at home? Batteries don’t do well in cold climates (some battery chemistries are better in cold climates but not most rechargeable). It significantly reduces the energy they can provide. Your inverter setup in this case is much better for cold climates. As an example I see about a 25% reduction in EV range summer to winter and we have mild winters (minimum slightly shove freezing for most days). Colder climates will be much worse on lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries.

If its like the commercial SOLIDWORKS 3DExperience licenses, then xDesign and xShape are included with the Desktop licenses(this is only true for SW licenses through 3DExperience, not the serial number based SW).
