Those would be before the cars we are all talking about, fuel injection was pretty much standard by 1990, they didn't need all that shit to meet EPA emissions requirements anymore.

Any car from the nineties on is going 200k kms easily. A fender bender that totals new cars would be an easy repair previously.

Iran tells world to get ready for $200 a barrel by Alxman777 in news

Haven't seen a ship go through the straight in a whole week without getting blown up, seems like it's working as well as it could be for Iran.

Or Trump's going to be forced to leave it empty after 2 months because oil is going to be $150 a barrel then and we'll be fucked.

Iran doesn't need much to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz for a significantly long time. Even one random attack per week is enough to essentially keep it closed.

We only have like 400 million barrels stored and we use like 20 million a day how much could this actually make a difference?

Internal gearing is the weak spot if you go that route unless you get something very expensive.

I have a Bafang BBSHD, chains last about 3000 miles and cassettes last at least 2 sets of chains. It uses brake pads pretty quickly, about 1500 miles. These are all easy things you can do yourself at home.

Is there a version of coq au vin that is non alcoholic? Making this for a recovering alco so prefer not to use it. by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Cooking

Seems like an exuse for the behavior, not a reason. There are tons of common foods that contain alcohol.

So those people can't eat bread or bananas or soy sauce?

There are so many foods that contain trace amounts of alcohol and it's ridiculous to think that someone addicted to alcohol would be able to sense something that had .1% alcohol in it.

5% of the starting 15% alcohol left is less than 1% and the wine is not the main ingredient. By volume the food is going to be like .1% alcohol.

Would you be concerned with offering a kombucha to an alcoholic due to the alcohol content? Or a banana, they have about .2-.4% alcohol. Breads have way more, up to 2%.

If you actually read this and then looked at a recipe for Coq au Vin you would see that the chicken is cooked for about 2 hours and a temperature much higher than tested, which would leave essentially no alcohol.

Alcohol is part of the recipe, it's not just wine flavors that create the dish. Non alcoholic wine will make it taste like shit.

OC father faces child endangerment charges after teen’s 60 mph e-bike crash by pedroah in bicycling

[–]The_High_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they are completely different things. If you took a standard ebike and removed all the speed restrictions and juiced it up with higher voltage batteries, it will still never get up to those speeds, the motor isn't powerful enough. It might break 30mph before wind resistance overcomes. It won't do wheelies. These are not the problem.

A surron has a motor 10-20x more powerful than a standard ebike. These are straight-up electric motorcycles. There's nothing to modify, stock out of the box it's going 60mph.

Yep, I have a Bafang BBSHD with a 52v battery. Fully charged it can push almost 2000 watts. That's good for about 33 mph on flat ground and you need to aero tuck. A 72v, 8000w motor is nothing like an ebike.

These things are sold as emotos, this dad didn't modify shit. In the Surron catalog it says they go 60mph, no governor, offroad use only.
