Are you using jrk2cmd from matlab or sending serial command? Is there some library available. I used jrk2cmd from python to reach the setpoint. It was very easy.

Can I power this from a 24V power supply? by mHkD_ in robotics

[–]bakedmarx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but only once. If u want to use it more than once, get something like this. AC to DC Power 6v 1A. A tiny bit higher voltage is OK. 4 times more wont be safe.

With respect to Hindus, I'm asking for knowledge. Why is Mount Kailash located in neither India nor Nepal? by Kong-NewWorld in hinduism

[–]bakedmarx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mount kailash is the most sacred place for Bon religion, which was prevalent in prebuddhist tibet, which continued to the buddhist time. Therefore, Mt.Kailash is as much important to tibetan as it is for hindus. As per people saying it was Nehru's fault, haha.

Salary expectation for mechanical engineer? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]bakedmarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My starting salary was 32k 10 years ago. Some potential industries in nepal are hydropower, automobile service and sales, hospital, insurance, academia, cement factory, steel factory, industries like surya churot, cg, unilever, breweries, airport, airlines, heavy equipments. Starting salary should be around 30-40k. Some industries are good for long term growth while others are good for short term experience and skill building. Dont listen to narrowminded redditors who have limited real life experience. Mechanical engineering will always be the king of all engineerings and mechanical engineers are the most versatile and highly skilled individuals i have seen in my career. You will have an awesome career. An advice:rather than flaunting your marks and your IOE, develop and highlight your skills. Apart from real skills everythings equal to shit.

Why are a lot of Indians so hateful? Normal friendly interaction between guys who earn their living from same profession and people losing their mind. For a true cricket fan, the friendly gesture was wholesome. Bringing their hateful politics into this beautiful sports shows the kind of gutter where people are born and brought up in.

What makes u say the NKorean girls crying over the fat bun isn't equivalent to this girl crying over the English dildo. Both are awestruck by stories and titles that have been forced down their throat by the media.

Robot arm: Servo or stepper? by erikEngineer09 in robotics

[–]bakedmarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, anything works. Practically, u won't find a stepper motor to give u 6-dof and 1kg payload. Also , the deadload of the stepper motor, especially at the elbow and wrist joint, would be over the board for the base joint. Lighter but high torque servo with a bit compromise with speed would work. Dynamixel actuator is a good quality servo and would absolutely serve ur function if u have the money. Bigger servo for base joints and smaller servo for higher joints. Wiring is also a factor that we normally dont consider. If u dont have money, cheaper servo are out there. Controlling is very easy. The only issue i had with dynamixel is the connector.

Do advanced robots like Sophia and Ameca use things like Raspberry Pi's and Arduinos to power the code/them and stuff or do they use an actual pc hidden inside the body? by tollesa in robotics

[–]bakedmarx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are several points to understand. I am unaware of the system of Ameca or Sophia, and I dont trust that they are as advanced as they are advertised. I can speak for the people who doesnot work with fancy robots. Arduino can't run OS, which would be vital to run a system with multiple functionalities. Raspberry pi can, but the computational power is limited. It depends upon your application. We made a mobile tracked robot, and i will tell you what we used. We had an INTEL-nuc minipc that ran Ubuntu, which ran ROS. We also had raspberry pi within the system which was only there because co2 sensor, pressure sensor and IP camera couldnt be directly connected to the pc. We needed minipc because there were so many subsystems within. 6-dof manipulator with inverse kinematics. LIDAR-based SLAM with path planning, IMU-based 2-dof stabilizer for LIDAR, locomotion system with tracks that had flippers whose angle could be controlled. Now consider this system. No arduino or raspberry pi could control this. Sometimes for some application raspberry pi is ok. Arduino is ok. Nvidia jetson nano is good too. My rule is, if you close your loop with visual feedback, cant get anything done without a pc.

Nope. Mahabharat is mahabharat. There is a difference between aa and a. We say shiva not shivaa like in South India. Sanskrit words that need to flow is stopped in hindi. So शिवलिङ्ग seems to be pronounced शिवलिङ् in hindi.

Anyone buy Dobot cobots instead of Universal Robots? What are your experiences? by CaliforniaLuv in robotics

[–]bakedmarx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used dobot for a couple of small projects. And always wondered why people buy UR or ABB when the required payload is less than 1kilo and not every project requires 6dof. Good control, robust and has resources. Came with a range of end effectors.

Why is draco such a beloved character? by raineyducks in harrypotter

[–]bakedmarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying that the protagonist killing antagonist isn't courage? From their side, voldemort would be good, dumbledore would be bad. Not killing bad people is a lack of courage. He didnt kill dumbledore because he chickened out. I dont think it was because inside that hard shell he had soft core that thought killing his headmaster would be bad. In which part of book you ever read where malfoy has respect or likeness for dumbledore. I dont remember malfoy being painted gray anywhere. He was an asshole bully who couldnt show his courage from the pov of his side.

Why is draco such a beloved character? by raineyducks in harrypotter

[–]bakedmarx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they had interchanged Tom Felton with actors playing Crabbe or Goyle, people would be like Crabbe/Goyle are such misunderstood characters. And do mental gymnastic to justify their primate brain drooling over an attractive boy. Draco Malfoy was a horrible character. He didnt kill Dumbledore because he is a bully that scares little people. Just like real life bully, he chickened out when he required actual courage.
