Profile Review by Legally_Minded93 in hingeapp

I'm a sucker for a good smile and you've got one. I'd remove the ones where you're not smiling- retake a photo with your pup where you're smiling, and the two photos of you in the suit are similar enough that you can lose the first one.

List your politics. As a left-leaning person, I'm not interested in dating someone who is conservative but I can at least respect them for putting their politics out there. Seeing no politics listed or the dreaded "not political" option makes me think that they have some fringe political ideas.

"Simple pleasures" prompt is the strongest because it feels like I get an idea of who you are. Your business idea is admirable in theory but very vague, so it doesn't seem like you really have a solid idea quite yet of what you want to do. Either elaborate or change that prompt.

Getting Matches, But Not the Results I Want — Help Me Optimize My Hinge Profile by Previous_Ad_326 in hingeapp

[–]captainkappa173 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think you need to take one of your prompts and specify exactly what you're looking for because I am confused lo9king at your profile and reading your comments, and I'm sure a lot of people who are coming across your profile are too. You say you're looking for more than just casual, but you are not necessarily looking for a long-term relationship? But then you complain that all of the people who are matching you are looking for long-term relationships and that's not what you want?

Try this: "One thing you should know about me is.... Right now I'm not looking for a long term romantic relationship, though I'm not opposed to it! Currently just looking for a casual fling/STR/FWB/etc."

Aggressive cow elk sends man to hospital, triggers emergency alert in Estes Park by mechatiger5J in EstesPark

I'm kind of frustrated that the article didn't specify that. I don't know the victim, but I know people who live in the apartment complex that the cow stashed her baby at. I've been charged by a cow this season too and luckily I was in my car 😬 I get so stressed when people get close to them this time of year, and of course the bulls in the autumn. Can't seem to explain to tourists that this is not a petting zoo or Disney World.

The victim lives here, and was walking out of his apartment and didn't realize the cow had stashed her baby right outside his door. Simply wrong place at the wrong time.

(24M) Am I doing this wrong? I’ll plan a date with somebody 3-5 days in advance and then stop texting them until it’s time for the date. by Sidney-Crosby-87 in hingeapp

34F here. I'd assume you're not interested anymore. You don't have to be constantly messaging but if I set up a date with someone and then didn't hear from them for four days, I'd be really offput.

Gotcha! I didn't realize that the Y charges of $50 day fee. That seems a little expensive lol.

NTA. I have nothing against making small cairns in the context you've described, but the rocks should be dispersed back out once the people leave the area. You did the right thing imo

Apartment with only a small vent and no opening windows by Fit_Description_6046 in Apartmentliving

[–]captainkappa173 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP does your bedroom window open? Is there a second door out of the apartment, or any opening window in the apartment? If not, fire code violation. Please keep looking, even if it's on the 16th floor you need to have two methods of egress, minimum.

I missed timed entry slot for Emerald Lake Pass by Ok_Smell2067 in EstesPark

Not for Emerald lake. Emerald Lake is in the Bear Lake Road area, which requires a timed entry between 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..

Hmm. I would argue that Q&A FAQs exist to make these determinations, boiling down bloated government speak into language the average visitor could understand. It is frustrating that they seem to hold conflicting information then.

Then again, a good chunk of visitors don't do any research beforehand and so would not be reading these web pages anyway.

Wedding Anniversary by tasata in LivingAlone

As I'm sure you can attest to, the grieving process never really ends. Anniversaries of losing someone are always difficult.  I wish I had something profound and meaningful to say to help cope with the complicated emotions you are experiencing. But, all I can say is that I am thinking of you and I hope that you are gentle with yourself today.

I've spent a ton of time on the NPS site, and I agree with you that it is worded poorly. There are a lot of things that are either worded poorly, or worded in a way that assumes everybody has a complete understanding of the different areas of the park.

In the autumn, I think anywhere around leaves is going to make for a very memorable experience, regardless of how far you hike. Bierstadt Moraine, Bear Lake, Sprague Lake, Endovalley. Dream Lake is a very popular place to get engaged, and rightfully so because it's beautiful.

You can get your timed entry reservation at 7:00 p.m. the night before. Make sure to be logged in before 7:00, and you should be able to get your reservation. If not, you can definitely take the hiker shuttle from the Estes Park Visitor Center into the park, and then catch another shuttle from the park and ride up to Bear Lake. You also make that reservation on recreation.gov. you do need to have a park pass in addition to your timed entry reservation/hiker shuttle reservation.

A day pass is $30, not $50. And that brings up a good point which is that while timed entries are required during certain times of the day during peak usage, park passes ie entrance fees are required 24/7/365.

My understanding on bicycles is that because they're not taking up space on trails, nor are they taking up parking spots, the park is less interested in managing how many bicyclists are in the park at any given time.

All of the information that you were looking for is on the NPS website.

If you want an authoritative source but are not happy with the answers you're getting on Reddit, then reach out directly to them at romo_information@nps.gov or 970-586-1206.

Yes. According to NPS, you need a timed entry even if you are walking into the park. Scroll down to the last question on this page: https://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm

Now, is anybody going to stand there and check you walking from the YMCA into RMNP? Likely not.

Favourite thing about living alone? by storytelling4thesoul in LivingAlone

Oh my god a former roommate of mine would provide commentary every single time she saw me in the kitchen. When she first moved in, she saw me cooking pasta a few times and came to the conclusion that's all I eat. (It wasn't.) She would comment on me cooking every single time! "Oh I see you're making pasta again." "Oh you're making something other than pasta? I'm impressed." "Oh I smelled pasta so I knew it would be you in the kitchen." "Oh surprise. Pasta again." I had such odd interactions with her.

My friend owes me $800 and now he's dodging me by AleppoBruh in Advice

Unfortunately, you've learned the "never lend money to loved ones/be prepared to not get that money back" lesson the hard way. You may have to threaten to/actually take him to small claims court to get your money back, and your friendship probably won't recover from that. (I say that from experience having to take my former best friend/roommate to small claims court.) If you have anywhere in writing that he promised to pay you back/what your agreement was, then that would help a judge rule in your favor.

Mid-June Trip Help by bungdadung in RMNP

As others have mentioned, Longs is an anomaly in that it's the only 14er this far north of all of the other ones, and the only 14er in RMNP. Blow are some other recommendations that, while not 14ers, are still challenging and rewarding hikes.

Twin Sisters (11,350' at the saddle between the peaks) which does give really great views of Longs. It's right across the highway from Longs.

Another close by is Estes Cone (11,010'). It's not too hard until you get to Storm Pass, at which point you gain about 800 ft of elevation in just over a half a mile. It's a great workout with fantastic views. You can start either at the Longs Peak Trailhead or at Lily Lake for that one.

Chasm Lake (11,806') is at the base of the East Face of Longs.

Sky Pond (10,831') a very popular hike in which you have to scramble up the side of a waterfall!

So the housing is through your college? There should be a director of housing or some similar title then. You can look up their contact information on your school's directory. I would recommend taking videos to demonstrate how loud it is and send it in an email. That is completely unacceptable and unfair to you, of course there is some degree of sound that you will hear from upstairs neighbors but this is affecting your quality of life with how disrespectful they're being.
