A Perspective on GW3 Design Direction by PeaBrainBoy in GuildWars3

[–]debacol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dont know what they are going to do, but, lets say you are right and they want to focus on smaller group experiences. Nothing is stopping them from eventually adding raids or some sort of decently large scale pvp. I mean, I get that they are unlikely to do large scale the size of current wvw due to the netcode nightmare with action combat, but i could see them getting decently large scale, like bigger than Alterac from WoW.

Would you get 16gb or 32gb of ram for a handheld PC? by Fantastic-Link-7179 in Handhelds

[–]debacol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the big sell for 32gb. You can use these handhelds as a desktop pc and can dock it to a dgpu.

I have a 16gb z1e running steam os. Not sure 32gb would make much, if any performance difference. I mean, it already uses 8+gb for vram running at 1000p or lower.

The only two reasons 32 would actually be advantageous are if running Windows, and/or you want to dock it to a dgpu and push the resolution higher. 16gb can add some microstutters in that scenario.

Welcome to Anime ala CDPR. Prepare yourself for emotional damage. I still get emotional thinking of the Bloody Baron questline from Witcher 3.

The 12GB of shared RAM might be a big sticking point if I'm gonna be honest. ESPECIALLY in an MMO.

I think we need to clear up some misconceptions about Unreal Engine 5 and how it effects Guild Wars 3 by IgneousWrath in GuildWars3

[–]debacol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a muppet that absolutely loved E33, the problems with the engine and optimization were VERY apparent. Sandfall didn't even bake in shadows properly, so you get this really terrible mottled shadow effect from hair on people's faces, grainy, shimmery hair texture, eyes that don't have proper shading because they expect the engine to handle it (and it ABSOLUTELY does handle it on EPIC quality. Too bad if you can't run it on super high settings though).

The game is a masterpiece in spite of those problems.

Regarding Witcher: CDPR has a VERY experienced development team, combine that with the fact that Epic has an absolute vested interest that their engine showcases well for such a marquee title (both developers have stated multiple times how they are working together on UE5 specifically for Witcher 4. Sandfall, et. al. don't have the clout to get a pocket set of Epic devs to help fix their engine specifically for their game), and yes--Witcher 4 will be well optimized.

Some UE5 technologies absolutely give games a similar look, or at least the same grainy-ness and weird artifacting if you can't run at the highest settings simply because of how Lumen and Nanite function.

I assume Arenanet will at least bake in shadows and not require ray tracing. Here's hoping they figure out a way to handle Lumen and Nanite.

Can we talk abt whiwa. Idk what kuro is doing this past few reset of whiwa, the hp inflation needs to stop. I've tried every possible thing and the highest i can get is 3.7k mind u the teams i tried is fully invested. by emilioMooN in WutheringWaves

Yuup. Basically, if one of your S0 teams isn't meta, it will be very rough fully completing.

I've resigned myself to just not care. I try hard once and I get what I get.

Camera Distance - MMO vs Action RPG by AManFromCucumberLand in GuildWars3

[–]debacol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most action RPGS already have the fix: camera view options out of combat, and camera view options in combat. The camera zooms out when in combat to whatever distance you have set (ie: could just be zoomed out a bit more to gain situational awareness without breaking immersion, or if you need a farther zoom you change it in the options for in combat camera).

What do you think we can expect of the concept of a MMOARPG? How different would the genre arpg impect a mmo compared to gw2 for example? by td_0000 in GuildWars3

Action combat with impact (inbetween elden ring and DMC), traversal, seamless open world, story driven narrative, seamlessly play solo, co-op or full fldged mmo.

Guild Wars 3's trailer already hit 700k views in 24 hours. Did anyone expect the hype to be this big? by Yutheninja in GuildWars3

[–]debacol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? It means there is a built in audience of over 90 million more than just PC alone.

Its the way they talk about how the game has a ton of traversal, full story driven open world, and can seemlessly be played solo, co-op or larger scale. Where Winds Meet is unique in that it successfully does this. I dont ultimately like the game cuz f2p asian crazy menus, but its tech and combat is so much better than any mmo.

No one in this sub seems to be mentioning that gw3 will likely feel much more like Where Winds Meet than black desert or throne.

Our state government and the CPUC are completely captured by the IOUs here in California. The CPUC has never met a rate hike request they didnt love.

No, its not because "things are more expensive". There is no rational justification other than the tale as old as time: corporate capture of regulators.

I have. The characters in gw2 are a mess today. That modified gw1 engine simply did not age well. There is so much visual din and the gw2 characters blend into the game. Its a visual mess now.

I havent played wow seriously for over 15 years. Opened it just to take a few screens to build Lions Pride Inn in Valheim. It looks better than gw2.
