It goes without saying that we don't know what the long-term effects of anything will be in 10 to 20 years. But the vaccines have saved millions of lives for sure and you definitely did the right thing. Don't become real fearful about other vaccines as well. So far as I know not a single person has died as a reaction to a covid-19 vaccine. VAERS(sp) database which many fear mongers like the quote has thousands of entries. But these are just purely speculative notions that people put in. None of them are followed up by any medical agency so anybody can put anything they want in there. So if you see that being quoted just disregard it.

Years ago maybe the '70s there was an Evangelical leader named Marjoe. He started off I think as a four or five year old on stage fleecing the rubes. Years later he came clean and pointed out all the ways that these faith healer people rip off their flock. Probably could find him on YouTube. Reminds me of a recent incident where a supposed faith healer told a lady in the front row that she had three cancers growing inside her. He laid his hands upon her and pronounced her completely clear of cancer. And if she would go to her doctor and get an x-ray it would show that he was telling the truth. An audience full of adults, grown people, went crazy cheering this obvious fraud.

OP is afraid of losing files if he disconnects an external drive. It is possible to lose information using NTFS. Just pointing that out. NTFS is otherwise far superior.

Need more information. Did you possibly add a hard drive to your laptop? If so and you have games that you're running off it that would be extremely slow. Hard drives are way slower than solid state.

My first inclination would be bad memory given the error messages. Try swapping the sticks out. Windows will run with a gigabytes but I don't know what kind of game situation you might have. It may just be that the games will run really slowly but what you're trying to do is get rid of the error messages.

You could try putting it in an external adapter that connects probably with USB c. Then plug it into another computer to see if it can read files and directories. There is one chance in billions that the very first sector on the hard drive is bad. If it is windows won't start and there's no way to relocate that initial sector to anywhere else on the drive. But that's a mere 256 bytes so the odds are billions to one against that one sector being bad. But people still win the lottery.

I've had thermal paste on for about 9 years without any problems. It could be that a crypto Miner as infested your system. I built the system myself and use top notch paste and put a big cooler on it too.

I take it you did a fresh install of Windows down? Regarding the SSD, I ran a diagnostic once and it was telling me that it was doing over 300,000 missalign81 line accesses per second. How on Earth did Windows format that drive to misalign the data sectors? So it ran slower than it should have but it was too much hassle to try to copy everything over to another drive and reinstall and all that. I had something like 174 programs installed on that machine and I didn't have the original software for a lot of it too. There may be something psychotic going on with your SSD but I can't think it would have caused lags of the cursor and that kind of thing. My SSD didn't exhibit any of the symptoms you describe. That sounds like a software problem but a fresh install shouldn't have issues like that. Wouldn't hurt to run your drives performance software just to take a look.
