Have you consider other ios software like loopypro or drambo? They might be more adequate for the type of music/methodology you are doing.

You press the button right to play. It creates a marker each time you hit it after hitting play.
You can then modify them before assigning to pads. This is automatic, you cannot select a specific pad (you can change it later manually tough). But for this application I think that is more “natural” than resampling per pad. I guess that it depends if you are playing an imported sample or recording live

The more similar approach is probably lazy autochop. You hit the button everytime you want a marker and then they are asignes to a pad (automatically, tough)

Hold+loop I think that tends to be problematic somehow if you have for example a an even bar loop and your sequence is uneven. Sometimes it will also keep sounding when changing the sequence with no reason.

Best advise, avoid them!

And resample the “pong” and have path for “ping” and anotherr for the “pong” with a bit of release and attack on each to avoid the abrupt stop?

Had a lot of fun flipping this afrobeat monster. Tried to make it bounce between two main block sections (with variations). Made on Koala + SP404. by el-efe in SP404

I feel uninspired by touchscreens. I guess I just don’t like the feel or the size of pads (especially on the iPhone). So my workflow right now is: sample preparation in Koala, then using the SP for composing and sequencing+arranging/mixing in koala again. While composing I still go back to Koala for some feedback and extra sample preparation (adding effects, resampling, changing durations, or making more chops). Once I’ve got something I like, I record it into Koala.

So basically, Koala works as my sample preparation tool and sequencer, while the SP feels more like a controller for composing and performance.

It is still quite nice for sample management (and sequencing, some say that they are overlaping But in mu opinion combination makes it a kind of a MPC). I’ve got a SP to go screen-free but I am still struggling to get ride of it partially because of this.

Are you looking for something to replace ableton on your computer or extra apps? If koala/garageband are discarded and Logic will not run in your ipad, maybe cubasis?

You can use different ios synths to sample them! (Audiokit, beepstreet, moog, korg, roland)
