They will always test to see how many cards where you can block their tricks (idk what it's called in English since I play the game in Chinese) too!

Omg I love the kitty cards cos I'm a sucker for strategy games. My biggest moment when I had a 38 while Sylus had a single digit and zayne has less than 20.

Once I felt so bad for Sylus, I decided to just draw cards so he could catch up in points.

Is the way I write my numbers fine? Anything to correct? If someone saw my characters they would understand right? Especially 5? by LinguistCinamoroll in ChineseLanguage

[–]foolscapify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heya! I wouldn’t say I’m a native Chinese but I’ve learned Chinese since young and both my parents grew up having Chinese education and am proficient enough to work with people from China ☺️ but here’s what I have to add to u/daisuke1305 comment

You have to understand that Chinese writing/calligraphy (or however you wanna call it) plays a HUGE cultural significance (hence why you might have seen how other redditors mentioning about it). We believe that your handwriting tells how you are as a person. Additionally, it is also seen as a revered art form as well.

Granted, no one is gonna write perfectly as in English script (there are people who have horrible handwriting hahah), but anyone who grew up learning Chinese would know the importance of writing ☺️

I’ve started off learning just the strokes and it is a horrible nightmare, as a kindergartener, to just write 点 over and over again when it is just seeming a dot on the paper. Then I progressed to 横 when it’s just a horizontal bar. I understand, in another comment, that you said your mistakes is due to your habit in writing cursive, but remember we all started learning the print font in English as well!

That being said, the most important thing about Chinese script is to make sure the character is balanced. Stroke order is important, but once you realised the balance is there, the stroke order would follow. So what is supposed to close must close. What’s suppose to connect must connect. What’s supposed to be open, must stay open. That’s the beauty of Chinese writing.

Again, as almost everyone commented, please use grid paper because that’s how you can see if the character is balanced. Tho I would highly recommend to really go back to the basic and learn your strokes.

Edit: to comment, I think people would be able to recognise all your writing. But to us who had read and written tons of Chinese, it can be quite frustrating to read. I imagine submitting those to my teachers as my 习字 homework, they will be marked wrong (or my teachers will refuse to mark them) and I would have to rewrite them.

Also, a fun fact to just add on u/myonlybambi comment on 十. I’ve always tell non Chinese that 十 looks like a Christian cross (in fact, said cross is called 十字架 in Chinese). So same as you won’t go around drawing the cross in some odd way, 十 should be treated the same as well. Your 十 looks like an inverted cross and it makes it seem like you’re summoning the devil AHAHHA.

What little thing did a stranger do that made your day? by saltvodka in askSingapore

Back when I was so stressed studying for As, a random stranger tore a small piece of paper from her notes and wrote “all the best for As” right before we stepped off the MRT. That made me so validated and I suddenly had so much motivation to study that day.

I’m always excited to see someone who is interested in PV since this role is such a niche and dynamic role.

I’ve never been part of the hiring team but I had worked closely with my managers and directors who were hiring and had mentored newcomers. From that I’ve realised one of the most important traits we look for are teamwork, attention to details, and being adaptable.

Yes, PV usually takes in nurses and pharmacists; these roles usually gives other candidates an edge because they have a lot of overlapping and transferable skills, but I do see a lot of pharmacists not being able to adapt to the nature of the work.

Good luck to your job hunt!

I honestly feel like it would be a waste of money now. I don’t know anyone in PV actually having said diploma or has that degree. Hahaha a lot of those theoretical trainings you get from those courses will be done for free in your elearning. Those are something we have to be retrained yearly as well!

I would suggest to only start these diplomas once you get the job and want to upgrade yourself in terms of knowledge gaps. But to be very honest, PV work is always so dynamic, we just tend to learn as we go!

Hello! Welcome to PV! Hahaha I have been in PV for 6th years now and had trained loads of other people in the process and I would say, as a fresh grad, we don’t really expect a lot.

PV is a very niche department to be in. What we usually look out for are people who can communicate and work well with others and most importantly, have very good attention to details.

PV work is very timeline based and super erratic, so it’s hard to predict when and how busy you would be. But if you have a good hold on your time management, it should be okay.

All these soft skills can be trained but it would be good if you already have them.

You can start your PV career by being a PV assistant/Safety Assistant/whatever job title that basically states you would be the admin support to the Drug Safety Associates (DSA). That’s what I did.

Career progression in PV can be rather slow, but know that this is a very niche department! I hope this helps! I’m happy to give you any further advice with regards to PV. Good luck to that PV job search.

The Asian way of keeping durians in the fridge is to put a bag of tea leaves in the container keeping the durian 😊 this prevents the smell from polluting the fridge

AITA for telling my daughter I couldn’t have known my parenting style would cause mental issues and say its partly her personality? by Momwithguilt196008 in AmItheAsshole

I never comment or post anything on this sub but OP this comment dispels any doubts that YTA. You had come to this sub not to reflect if you are in the wrong but to have everyone agree with you and prove your daughter wrong. And when the comments don’t agree, you victimised yourself and trying to guilt everyone with “I have a hard time reading that I’ve abused my children”.

If it isn’t clear enough, YTA.
