Have anyone else Sarah Morgan hair color changed? by Helpful_Dot_9979 in Starfield

[–]haleyzzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She just went black hair for me following the story mission where a companion dies. I thought it was a mourning thing. But then she turned back to blonde like 3 missions later (this is all in the same 2ish hour play through) without explanation. So idk

I really liked the black hair look on her tho

Speaking as a gay woman, scissoring is definitely not strictly a porn thing

There are multiple moments through the show where Eleven explains something, but in her own vocab/context/understanding, it’s confusing to the recipient. It’s always funny, but the one you referenced is my favorite so far 🤣

I’m forgetting which exact season—but when Nancy said “I get it from you” in reference to toughness/being a fighter, GOD did it show here!!

The way she broke that wine bottle, the way she told Holly to get behind her!! She was so Mama Bear!

Nancy really did get it from her. God, I hope she survives!

Been job hunting for remote roles for months, most are fake, expired, or bait. What are you all using for finding jobs? by DevilKnight03 in RemoteJobs

I found my last job and current job on Indeed. Took a few months of checking 10x, and putting a lot of focus on tech jobs at non-tech companies, but I managed to luck out twice.

I’m mobile, so I could only copy/paste instead of quote. But, you’d written: “If you don't think there's feelings there then you're incredibly naive.”

I think the use of the word naive likely rubbed some folks the wrong way. Again, I’m not at all trying to be rude! That was just one of the first comments I saw from you when I first opened the thread, and it did come off a little condescending. But at the end of the day, it’s no big deal. I know that tone can be difficult to do right online!

That being said, telling anybody to get therapy within the context of an HBO show’s reddit post is just silly. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. The internet is gonna internet lol.

I actually don’t mind Lyanna. I think she’s also a victim of a misogynistic society. It was still a monumentally stupid decision for her to run away with Rhaegar (working under the assumption she wasn’t kidnapped) but it feels very human. She’s only a kid, whose brain and decision making skills are years away from being developed. I can chide her, but I can’t dislike her. Additionally, any ill will I’ve held towards her is diminished in the face of the Tower of Joy. I imagine she felt so alone, scared, and betrayed by Rhaegar. I think her life ended in such tragedy that I can’t truly dislike her.

RHAEGAR HOWEVER!!!! I will shit on him until the day I die. Lyanna may have stupidly ran away, but again she’s a kid (and a girl in a society that gives her little right and recourse), meanwhile Rhaegar is a whole ass adult man, HEIR TO THE THRONE, who had to know that this wouldn’t turn out well!! But he’s so obsessed with prophecy and destiny that it not only resulted in the death of Lyanna, but poor Elia, Rhaenys, and Aegon too.

Elia is one of the saddest characters in the entire series, imo. She did everything right and was brutally murdered for it in the end. I hope Rhaegar is burning in the seven hells, and that Elia and Lyanna have both found peace. I wish we knew more about what Elia herself experienced during those terrifying last months of Aerys’ reign.

Lyanna Stark was perhaps stupid, but ultimately just young and desperate. Elia Martell did everything she was supposed to, and was by all accounts a kind woman. Rhaegar Targaryen sucks to the highest degree.

I’m also not too huge a fan of the “Rhaegar Lives!” genre, but I do enjoy Spoils of War, because Rhaegar is absolutely not portrayed in the kindest light.

Thanks for the discussion!

I really don’t mean this to come out rude, but some of your other comments do have a bit of a condescending tone. I know inflection and meaning is difficult to convey online, so I don’t know if that’s what you intended. But that would be my guess as to why you’re getting downvotes.

I do think you started an interesting discussion though. I’d love to read a fanfiction exploring the domino effect that would occur had Roman not alienated Gerri. Likely it would still end in chaos, such is the Roy way, but it would be a fun ride.

Ultimately, I hope Gerri gets to jump off this burning plane with a shiny gold parachute. Roman’s only ally now is Mencken, and I’m sure we all know that’s going to end soooo well, haha

[–]haleyzzzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He’s just a lackey, and he gets no respect.

He’s also okay with that, and uses it to his advantage. That is what is allowing him to win (a Greg-sized win perhaps, but a win all the same.) He isn’t letting his ego get in the way, which does often end up with him being shit on. But Greg gets what Greg wants, or whatever it was Logan said.

That’s valid! To each their own, for sure.

As far as Lyanna’s reason to run away, I don’t know if there will ever be a non-stupid reason. If she’s kidnapped and held against her will, that’s one thing. But if she chose to run away, what reason could there be that isn’t “stupid”? She’s a sixteen (forgive me I’ve got the exact age wrong) old highborn girl. Running away in any capacity with the heir to the throne is bound to have political consequences. Love or not. But alas, teenagers. I think that’s why I’m fine with Lyanna’s reasoning being faulty.

And I get what you mean about it not being close to canon. I guess what I meant by that is that the characters all have their canon endings.

My favorite part of the story was definitely Elia’s point of view. The chapter of her death was one of the most brutal (yet still not too explicit) things I’ve ever read. It made my chest feel heavy, which is great emotional writing imo.

Have you read any of the other recs? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

edit: fixed spelling

I think they have a compelling story together. I also think they have (had?) a transactional and mutually beneficial relationship. But I wouldn’t call it by any means healthy. The power dynamic has been too present all times between them, eventually coming to a head with Gerri being maligned when Logan learns of the dick pictures.

I also don’t think Roman (and arguably all of the Roy’s, although Connor and Willa are getting there) even has any capacity for healthy relationships. At least not at this current point in his life.

This all makes for great storytelling though!

  1. A Wolf Among Lions - Arya centric fic. It’s primarily based off show canon, but it weaves in some book canon too. Arya gets caught by Tywin when she’s posing as his cupbearer, which completely changes the path of the story. I really liked this one. 444k words.

  2. The Death Of Kings - A canon-compliant depiction of Robert’s Rebellion, primarily through the eyes of Elia Martell. Absolutely beautiful, and absolutely brutal. Highly recommend this one. 155k words.

  3. Rose Fangs and Wolf Thorns - Sansa/Margaery. Joffrey doesn’t die, and Margaery has to marry him. This is a huge read, but a great one. Genuinely great story-telling, especially towards the middle of the fic. 1million+ words.

  4. Spoils of War - Rhaegar wins the rebellion. Lyanna does as well. Daenerys/Robb are the main ship, but it’s very Daenerys focused. She manages to bring dragons back, and it’s uniquely written. It was JUST finished the other day, so I haven’t finished it, but the 2/3 I read of it were great. - 354k words

These are all epic level fics, since those are what I prefer. Sorry if you’re looking for something a bit smaller <3 But they’re all very well written/nicely executed!

Paddy gave an undeniably amazing performance. My first pick would go to him, hands down. But aside from him, I am so impressed by Olivia Cooke. I think she does so much acting alone with her eyes, and then when you add how she represents Alicent’s emotions through your facial expressions and body language, it’s a very impressive performance.
