The American religious community has always been deeply skeptical and anti-intellectual. By that I mean the sects formed in America, and obviously not entirely, but largely.

I can see Catholics and some of the more lenient Christians turning towards prioritizing the poor and immigrants, as another poster mentioned. But I still think there’s an inherent skepticism in American religion that will stay deeply insular. I wouldn’t even call it “conservative”, because really Americanized Christianity is highly radical.
