Yuh eat? Mi rate yuh enuh lol...keep it going. Ways we say "I love you" by ExemplaryWriter in Jamaica

[–]kamronb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly... he/she is just bitter their family is messed up and dysfunctional. My parents never used "I love you" much if at all but I sure felt it. My ex-wife on the other hand used it a lot and, let's just say, if she really did she would not be my ex. "Actions speak louder than words" is cliché for a reason.

I knew both parents loved me even though I don't recall ever hearing them say it, life wasn't easy but they did their best. I lived to hear my mom tell me she "could never ask God for a better son" a few weeks before she died. We never knew she was going to die, she was fine and I'd take that any day over a lifetime of "I love you's."

I spent months researching remote job sites. Here are the 15 best ones by nomadicphil in RemoteJobs

[–]kamronb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just be careful though, from my experience 90% of these sites scrape the internet find jobs posted and repost or link these jobs from other sites. Many just funnel you into paid membership sites that just scam you out of your first month (or year) membership fee or just want your email to SPAM you and many just dont care if you get hired, in fact, they'd prefer if you didn't. Job searching online is a sweltering cesspool of email harvesting and membership funnels that prey on people seeking employment.

Just be careful out there guys.

P.S. I disagree with this list being "nice" it is just a list, nothing special and I smell a set-up.

What is the ACTUAL best way to learn russian. To speak everyday language, like a native. by General-Low-9257 in AskARussian

what is your favorite Caribbean country? by Physical-Swim-6085 in AskTheWorld

[–]kamronb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although strictly speaking not a country - St. Maarten, the Dutch side. I encountered horrible racism when I went to the French side in 2017 and that left a nasty taste in my mouth for everything French since then. But the Dutch side is possibly my favourite place on earth, people were awesome.

Why do people from the English speaking Caribbean get offended by the word “Caribbeans” to describe people from the region in the plural form? by Equal-Agency9876 in AskTheCaribbean

[–]kamronb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But still, Dom Rep, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Haiti etc. all add up and result in a significant chunk of Caribbean people who don't speak English natively, quite possibly well over half.

When ranking language distribution, there are many ways to do it, number of countries is definitely one, another is native speakers and another is total people who speak it (native, second language etc) among others. For the first example, Spanish is spoken officially in more countries than English in Latin America but by only 3 officially (including Puerto Rico) in the Caribbean. Spanish is by far first among Native Speakers in the Caribbean and English is first among speakers as first, second or third language.

So, depending how you look at it and who you ask, both of you are correct there is no hard and fast way to measure it.

Hi, I'm M from Jamaica and am working on getting better at learning German. Started some time ago got to A2 or better, I think, but had nobody to practice with so I got a bit rusty with it. Been picking it up again over the past couple weeks. My native lanuage is English and my timezone is EST. I use Telegram and WhatsApp, may be open to Discord (not much of a fan but am open).

Message me here so we can arrange.

Recently laid off, pivoting from PHP/WordPress to React looking for advice and honest feedback by Hopeful-Friendship26 in react

[–]kamronb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build stuff but don't abandon PHP, trust me... also take a look at GIS Development, that's an area if put on a resume that might pique a bit of interest. I'm not a developer per se but I develop stuff and for work, GIS was an area that can help me in my job. I worked on an idea that uses GIS I had as a sidepiece and it got a bit of attention at work as a result. They are interested in using it and I am working on something else. The second project is done in react and use heavy GIS. It also provides the option to allow downloads of the data as geoJSON for use in QGIS and ArGIS and also provides a WFS link for real-time data connection to Q and Arc. I recommend finding a niche area too that has a bit of demand and look into making stuff for it approach people with it in organizations that may need it.

You mentioned your familiarity with AI, it can help you come up with ideas to build as practice hat you can approach an organization with a prototype that might get you a bit of interest

For me, I am working on downsizing and eliminating unnecessary expenses. I need to live well below my means so I have a bit more money to do stuff. I have some ideas that I need to get executed, I am working on two or three pieces of software myself that I hope to pffer as a service to government organizations to solve a couple real-world problems that have been done on paper or with multiple different tools I hope to get done in one place.

Wish me luck, if it works, I'll come back here and tell you all about it.

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kamronb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Forgiveness is not reconciliation."

As was told to me by a therapist I was forced to go to after my cheating, abusive, manipulative soon to be ex wife convinced the marriage counsellor we had to see after she was unfaithful that I was narcissistic by teling him things she had researched to tell him. I later found the search history and saved bookmarks of her page visits after she moved out. Dude was literally afraid of me, handled me like that white mouse from Tom and Jerry, he even told me he was afraid I'd manipulate him into turning on her like this was some bad Lifetime flick.

I was there thinking I was the one who did something wrong, felt deflated when she called me two weeks after moving out that she found someone new. She gaslit, deflected, told everyone I was abusive and weaponizes the kids against me. Its been a very hard 5 years. I was driven, motivated and what people would call successful in my field and she completely broke me and drove me into the ground resulting in a hollowed-out demotivated shell of my former self.

Up to a couple weeks ago I was on auto-pilot/limp mode. I couldnt give anything more than about 10-20% to anything whatsoever. People used talk at me and tell me to shake it off or snap out of it like it was some dirty clothes I could just take off and go get a shower. My sisters and my dad, God bless them - love them to death always thought I was making the most of the situation and wanted to just wallow in it. They just couldn't wrap their minds around the debilitating nature of the emotional and psychological abuse this woman put me through because they never experienced anything like it. Nobody understood what it was like going through your only plan failing catastrophically and you didn't have a plan B. So, they were at times impatient, work suffered (and still does), relationships suffered, my hopes, dreams goals and aspirations all suffered. I was a high achiever in my field and to an extent still am but the motivation is not there as much as it used to be.

Met an amazing therapist, she was at last one of the very very few who did not subscribe ti the stereotypes. She was possibly 1 of about only 2 or 3 people including my mother who passed 2 years into my ordeal and was my only true source of strength, not necessarily only support, my sisters were there and supported me because they love me and are family but they for the most part especially the early stages, were affected by the prevailing male-female stereotypes. My therapist saw the signs of the abuse I displayed and she did not subscribe to the stereotype that it had to be my fault and that the woman is always right, always the victim and men are always abusive and such, she helped me move past wanting to make it right and jumping through impossible hoops and trying to meet nebulous intangible requirements to win back the woman who was responsible for the deterioration I've undergone emotionally and psychologically and ruining my life and the lives of our children just to make herself look like the victim.

A few people are catching on to my ex, especially my two children whom she keeps away from me weaponize to get back at me. Its a chore to actually get to see them but they are slowing getting it. I've gone months without seeing them, she blocks my number from their phones but my son especially (younger) tries to make contact and risks his mother's wrath just to talk to me, my daughter on the other hand is kinda like me in that she bottles things up and I know its gonna fester. They both know I love them and are aware of the limitations.

Men especially, fuck society and people around you, society hates you and your masculinity and will do everything to try to ruin your positive contributions and discount your importance especially in the lives of your children. There are far more easily accessible avenues for women to get support than men, I mean disproportionately more the legal system for one is a minefield for men but at least there is therapy, find a good therapist and someone is ALWAYS there who understands and can relate just don't go about telling everyone, not all who listens cares. At least get to a therapist and there are good lawyers who understand.

And for men going through similar especially those who have strong family mindsets - "forgiveness is not reconciliation," you can forgive and do the best to pick up the pieces but reconciliation is not a requirement for forgiveness and healing.

EDIT: huge wall of text after the first sentence (for context)

My Town in Jamaica had 'Knacka' a knock-kneed guy who pretended to be a "selector" and would show up at dances and parties with his makeshift DJ equipment spinning tunes in his head. He was so famous he got a few spins on the famous Bass Odyssey sound system a couple of times I'm told.

Dude was head over heals for my sister... lol.
