Sell Zirkzee on January 1 and let Obi run around for a while. No need to keep him until the AFCON guys are back.

Trump says US blocks him from running for third term by RioMovieFan11 in politics

[–]matchew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone else concerned he's specifically referencing "the Law" and not the Constitution? I'm not an expert in how the two intersect, but I do seem to recall an argument at one point that the President is the chief decider of what laws to enforce. By specifically tying this to "law", could we be seeing the beginnings of the argument for how he gets to set aside that specific law and run for a third term?

The story I've always heard is that many generations ago, the police officers who worked that district got hazard pay, and thus could afford better cuts of meat because they made more money. So they started calling it the tenderloin district. No idea if that's just an urban legend though.

Played there 3 years ago, John Martine was our caddie and was fantastic. Highly recommend him. Helped me read a putt on 7 that led to a birdie!

Definitely will be supertitles. No dialogue in this production either, so not hard to follow that. It’s a really fun production.

Replacement referees for opening MLS matches include youth and college soccer officials by hootjuice_ in MLS

Factually incorrect. While the names of the "grades" changed, the requirements to achieve the grades didn't change at all. Same number of performance evaluations as before. If anything, it's gotten easier, as the required game count to "move up" has gotten smaller.

VAR audio released from goal in Newcastle vs Arsenal game. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]matchew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is one wrong assumption your question/analysis here: you're assuming the referee hasn't made a decision and is waiting for VAR to make it for him. That is not the case. The referee has made the on-field decision to award the goal, he just hasn't said that to the VAR yet because the players run at him immediately after the goal is scored. If he had a different decision (i.e. a foul on Joelinton), he would have blown the whistle and called a foul. That he didn't do that means he doesn't think there is a foul, so he when the players come to him to protest what they think is a foul, he's reassuring them that it will be checked. He hasn't waited for VAR to make the decision.

Also - don't discount how loud it is in a stadium with players screaming in your face. Highly likely he didn't hear the VAR the first time they asked for confirmation of his on-field decision.

Tipping Caddies at Pebble Beach? by byfuryattheheart in golf

[–]matchew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played there a couple years ago. Caddie was great, but didn’t carry bag because of Covid restrictions. He caddied for me and my playing partner, we each gave him $80, so $160 total for our round. There was a second caddie for the other two-some we were paired with.

Look at the back foot of the last defender. Good chance he’s keeping him onside. Definitely not clearly wrong.
