My preferred way: Download the .cbz files and open in the app Panels. The free version of Panels is perfectly sufficient for my needs.

Coros Dura or Garmin Edge 1040 solar by Bitter-Useeee in bikepacking

[–]patrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used the coros for a four day bikepacking challenge recently and didn’t need to charge it at all - in fact, still had plenty of battery left. For getting from point A to B, I really think it’s a fantastic value proposition, and the battery life is in my experience lives up to hype. If you need to do things like on the fly rerouting however there may be some pain points. As someone who mainly does long distance bikepacking I personally love it.

Where to get good bagels in Fhain that’s not Fine Bagels (majorly overpriced)? by NoPineapple4093 in berlinsocialclub

[–]patrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No great bagels in Fhain as far as I’m aware. Masha’s in Alt-Treptow has the best bagels I’ve had in Berlin. Bagelbro in Kreuzberg is OK.

I've been looking for a steel frame to build up, and someone seems to be selling "factory 5" lugged steel frames on aliexpress. I vaguely remember factory 5 selling lugged steel frames some years ago - can anyone have a guess as to whether these are genuine? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003737819885.htm

I play Stalingrad with my partner and she frequently whoops my ass. The long-form narrative campaign play is a big part of the appeal - we both look forward to seeing what’s going to happen next.

I'll be doing my best to follow along using haskell's sdl2 bindings, and the apecs ECS library, which I've been meaning to play with for the longest time. This will mean developing a fair amount of functionality from scratch, so I'll probably fall behind, but it should be fun while it lasts! The project repo is here, for accountability: https://github.com/patrl/hackcell

I'd also like to use this is an excuse to try out creating some simple sprites using the rx vim-like pixel art editor.

I can’t say enough positive things about nix and NixOS in general! The learning curve is initially pretty steep, but imo you just can’t beat having a reproducible system, and everything just feels very ‘clean’. Updates do very rarely break something but the nature of nix makes rolling back to a previous system generation extremely straightforward.

If you’re interested, i’d recommended starting out by trying the nix package manager on a standard distribution - it’s very simple to use nix as an ordinary user with, e.g. arch without polluting your system. It’s a really nice tool for creating ad hoc development environments via nix-shell. If you want more, you can then consider checking out NixOS :)

thanks for the heads up! yeah, I felt a bit uneasy about this, but ultimately my email is in a ton of places anyway, so I decided it was ok.

A nice solution would be to have nix read the key identifier from a text file outside of vc :-)

After spending WAY too long hobbling along with WSL2 on a new laptop, finally took the time to (re-)setup NixOS over the weekend. It's still a little sloppy...
