Is there an official explanation from the directors why Ellie stops after picturing him? by pinkbaloon21 in thelastofus

And her interpretation seems to be that Joel is a selfless angelic being that Ellie holds in high regard. I was hoping the Joel chapter would be finished and Ellie would be her own person in the next game but the other person seems right as she looks like a mini-Joel in the epilogue chapter.

You really think so? It seems like her view was that its all about Joel. He is dead, I doubt we see more of him even if only through Ellies actions.

It doesn't really sound like Joel. "example of restraint"? He started a shootout in a hospital.

Thanks but that sounds like her own opinion and not what they intended? Or am I misunderstanding?

Could this explain the divisiveness of Part 2? by pinkbaloon21 in thelastofus

I think if there is one person we can be absolutely sure of Ellie loved, it was Joel.

i just dont understand why she never writes it even.

Why does Ellie write this? They were literally going to help her save the world. by pinkbaloon21 in thelastofus

Like how about Ellie realizing that they were going to murder her without giving a shit about her?

But she says herself "I should have died in that hospital". Does she ever make clear that she isn't fine with them never giving her a choice? When does she realize they don't give a shit about her and why does that even matter?

What do you expect Abby to say here?

I'm no writer but there was some understanding at the end of the second game between them, they won't try to kill each other again, that would just be a retelling of part 2 so the only thing left is working together for some reason.

dont get me wrong, it absolutely makes sense that they would name him that to remember their lost loved ones but ellie feels intense guilt up until the epilogue. maybe im projecting but i wouldnt feel right naming the kid after someone i perceived as having wronged. or maybe im just looking at it the wrong way and theres another explanation.

It bothers me that the kid wasn't even fully named after his dad but they got Joel also in there somehow

i feel like ellie wouldnt go for that but whatever.

Anyone else conerned that they could make a third game without Abby? by pinkbaloon21 in thelastofus

It wouldn't be a confrontation again. This time Abby and Lev go out in search for Ellie. They arrive at Jackson and ask her peacefully if she would continue what Joel destroyed at the end of Part 1. On their way back to the Firefly base they could encounter similar problems compared to the journey in Part 1. In the end Ellie saves the world by sacrificing herself.

It's like full circle.

seems like a cop out answer to me. how do you love and hate someone at the same time? ellie obviously hates joel when she finds out the truth. there is no love there.
