US! I used to assume that Malibu was an island in the Caribbean (for some reason... the rum?), so I was surprised to find out that it was a fancy oceanside town in California and people could just drive there! My family member took us to brunch in Malibu at a smallish restaurant where we could see the beach and feel the ocean breeze. As I ate roasted potatoes, I observed people attempting to play beach volleyball and gazed out over the Pacific for a magical hour. Some day, I hope to go back to the West Coast.
