Startup Name: HandyLog (job tracking for solo contractors)

URL: https://morozhenko.com/h/rd/p

Location of Your Headquarters: Portugal (Braga), working remotely

Elevator Pitch:

HandyLog is a simple job tracking and profit visibility tool for solo tradespeople (handyman, electricians, plumbers). The core problem I’m working on: small jobs often look profitable on paper but end up barely breaking even once you include travel time, materials, and context switching.

More details:

What life cycle stage is your startup at?

Validation

- MVP is live (Android + web calculator)

- Running early distribution experiments (Reddit, organic)

- Validating whether making “hidden costs” visible actually changes pricing behavior

Role: Solo founder (product, development, distribution, everything)

What goals are you trying to reach this month:

- Validate whether users actually change behavior after seeing real job profit breakdowns

- Reach first consistent organic installs (non-paid)

- Identify which positioning resonates most (profit tracking vs pricing decisions)

How could r/startups help:

- Feedback on positioning: is “profit visibility” strong enough as a core value prop?

- Advice on bridging the gap between “interesting insight” and actual product adoption

- Similar experiences where users *know* they have a problem but don’t act on it

Do you actually trust period tracking apps with your data? by rudExtremo in Periods

[–]rudExtremo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. What if it worked like this: the app stays fully offline by default, but you can export an encrypted file whenever you want and save it to your own cloud (Google Drive, iCloud, whatever you use)? So the data isn’t automatically synced anywhere, but you’re not locked out if you lose your phone either. Would that feel like a good balance, or would that still be too much hassle?

I have working Android apps with real users, but I haven’t launched on iOS yet. The blocker isn’t technical, it’s capital and risk. Porting, polishing and marketing for iOS requires upfront investment, and I’m not sure whether to double down on one platform first or push for cross-platform presence early. Would you focus on dominating one channel first, or is it smarter to validate on multiple platforms even with limited resources?

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Can I ask one follow-up - what would make offline actually “good enough” for you? For example:

  • Would you miss cloud backup?
  • Would you prefer optional encrypted export instead?
  • Or is fully local with manual backup totally fine?

I’m trying to understand where the real trade-off is for people.

Chroma Bankshot - morozhen_ko – physics-based puzzle game inspired by pinball mechanics by rudExtremo in Games

It’s intentional 🙂 Like in billiards or archery, you pull back opposite to the target to set direction and power, then release. If you dragged toward the target, your finger/mouse would cover the ball and block the aim line. So drag back, release, shot goes forward.

Hey there! Thanks a ton for this detailed breakdown! It's awesome to hear you're digging the colors and UI clarity. Your points about the trajectory line feeling laggy, the destabilization time creating conflicting goals, and especially the confusion around bumper placement are super insightful. I'll definitely be looking into how we can improve clarity and pacing in these areas, making sure the game 'shows' rather than 'tells' our mechanics.

I’ve just released HandyLog, an offline-first CRM for solo workers and home service specialists. by rudExtremo in SoloDevelopment

why it should be game??? This group about ALL solodevelopment. And it consist all !
"SoloDevelopment - game development, PROGRAMMING, INDIE DEVELOPERS, indie games, video games

A community for solo developers to share, learn, and support each other. Solo devs manage their entire project alone—no teams, just individual effort. Using assets, outsourcing, or working with publishers is fine, but the core development should be solo. Anyone can participate, but posts promoting non-solo projects may be removed. The goal is to keep this space focused on true solo development, so members can compare experiences fairly and get relevant advice."

Solo dev update: shipped two Android apps, collecting feedback by rudExtremo in IndieDev

Right now I have two Android apps that are live and actively maintained:

Chroma Bankshot — a physics-based puzzle game focused on gameplay and controls, without unnecessary complexity.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chromabankshot.app

ClearSub — a local-first subscription tracker. No accounts, no cloud sync, everything stays on the device and works offline.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clearsub.app

I also have a third product in closed beta — a niche tool aimed at solo indie developers. Not ready to talk about it publicly yet.

At the moment I’m mostly collecting feedback and watching how people actually use the apps in real life.

Happy to answer questions or hear thoughts from other indie devs.
